Honestly guys, be my guest if you can pay for the upkeep and maintainance. This bike has seen just one ride in the past 8 months! The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Good, now I can get my rear tyre changed soon, engine oil needs flushing, radiator flushing as well and the injectors need cleaning too and plugs have to be replaced as well. All for free!Originally posted by Aryan View PostI am ready to be the 'guest'!

Are you kidding me? All radiators need flushing. Sbks are made in such a way that they auto flush when you open the successive cocks, some of them. However, you have to get the muck removed too.Originally posted by sudipta_roy View PostHow you do radiator flushing,Yamaha guys here told me never need to flush it only top up is required if the fluid level goes down..
ps- wat have you done with your 220, didn't got you...
For the 220, read my xBhp Ladakh trip and my other threads where I went on "Off-roading" holidays!
All of it is due!Originally posted by MACH50 View Postall in due time nevermind

When I mean ride, I mean something like 1200kms in 2 days.Originally posted by TenHut View Postyou gotta be kidding right ?
1 ride in 8 months ?
A short 100km ride is not really a ride for me! I would rather go to the back of beyond and ride my modified 220 and enjoy the mud!
As I said, Superbike is a different way of life! The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

"You are 26 ! Its about time you focus less on shiny things in life !"
What ?
"Yeah, I mean whats the point in buying these pocket rockets at the age 26 ? You dont go to college, you dont take tuitions. Why buy these machines ? They surely arent a sane mode of transportation! "
Umm...If I were to go to college ...would these machines be a sane mode of transportation then ?
"No ofcourse not. But then buying them would be justified...flamboyancy and shiny things are always 'IN' in a college. But you yourself say these days that its time for you to settle down and get married and stuff, then why buy or own these machines ?"
I had this fantastic conversation with a relative of mine who insisted that I sell off my bikes because she failed to see the point why I bought them in the first place.
In India, if you wanna be tagged as a poser on a bike the easiest way is to buy a superbike ! Why ?
Because superbikes are shiny things. They are pocket rockets..have no real purpose of existence than showing off to the public on the road while making insane amount of decibels right from the word GO.
This maybe the result of 'dhoom' kinda movies. To be honest I still havent seen that movie but looking at the image that this movie has created and the way superbikes are percieved by folks in our country, its not hard to imagine what kind of a movie it must have been. The wrong kind.
Then again...if you wanna be classified as an arrogant snob..buy a superbike. Buying a superbike makes you public enemy no 1 !
Then there are riders...good riders...like you and I. God forbid these riders ever catch you without a helmet.
"You can afford a superbike but not a Helmet ? "
No dumb azz...I aint wearing one right now because I am taking my bike to a wash centre which is like 500 metres away from the spot where you are jumping me trying to shred me into pieces !
If you are wearing the eraser out ahead of the pencil you are overdoing it. If you are wearing a helmet on a single lane small narrow road for a km ride to a wash centre 500 metres away from where you stay, you are close to overdoing it. Thats my take...I dont impose that take on everyone...but that doesnt stop everyone from imposing their takes on me.
The other day I saw a decent rider commenting some lidless Busa rider on Facekut.
''he isnt wearing a helmet..must have bought the bike with his dads money''
No dimwit...there are plenty who buy bikes with their own money...and there are plenty who use helmets when they think they need to use one and there are plenty who dont use it because they know they are gonna ride real slow, real safe only for the the next 500 metres !
You see the problem with the above mentioned rider on Facekut or his likes is that they wear gear and think they have done everything that was in their capacity to be safe on the road.
You see a lot of people stressing on wearing protective motorcycling gear these days. And with that, there is a sudden surge in people thinking they can ride like they were invincible for they are wearing protection.
Protection alone doesnt make you a safe rider...to be a safer rider nothing works as better as riding safe in the first place. Protection is out there for those 'I fcuked up' moments. Its not a license to rip through city roads.
The corollary is also true...not wearing a helmet for 500 metres or a kilometre is not being rash, unsafe or irresponsible.
Anyways...my issue is not protection or the lack of it. My issue in all seriousness is this ruling mentality where a superbike owner is considered to be an arrogant asshole.
The other day a good friend of mine came upto me and said
"I really like that you arent an arrogant prick even though you own a litre class "
I thanked him for his compliment but went on to investigate the matter further.
"Why did you expect me to be arrogant in the first place? Because I ride a litre class ? See this is where you screwed up ! Your conditioning is such that you end up thinking that the superbike world is one huge big bunch of snobs..drop this notion asap as one day you too will be riding one and I can guarantee you wont change yourself from being a polite person to an arrogant asshole just because you bought a bike."
If anything you would rather calm down in life after owning a superbike. Dont ask me why...but superbikes have this effect of calming you down like sedatives do. You become a lot more patient with things in life and you generally arent annoyed very easily when out there on the road. As funny as this may sound a superbike will build charachter.
And lastly..please for the love of God dont call these machines "pocket rockets "
It makes the already stupid indian media think that we all are sitting on a freaking tomahawk missile. Start with a smaller bike..upgrade to bigger ones. They do that in smart countries. These bikes are not our there to kill you and they surely arent just shiny missiles. They are way more than that. Now I cannot give you a logical explanation for what they are ! But you have to take my word today and try it out yourself tomorrow. These bikes are not pocket rockets...they accelerate better than a car...they brake better than a car...they corner better than a car..then whats so risky about them ? Its you ! And if "YOU" cease to become the problem then there exists no problem at all and these bikes are as safe as cars are. Most people, when confronted with something that defies logical explanation, have their ego defense mechanism kick in. "I don't understand that, therefore it is nonsense.". Emotional reactions to intellectual problems always do the reactor a disservice. When we can accept that there are things in this world that are not so easily explained, then we can really start to learn.
I hope the ruling image of superbikes changes in our country ! I hope it happens while I am still riding them.Last edited by TenHut; 10-13-2010, 08:58 PM.sigpic
