This beast is way more brutal than its compititors. Has more power and with relatively no technological controls (read TC, ABS) and gives the pleasure of pure motorcycle riding. Pure bliss if you ask me.
You said it man, there is something about keeping machines raw and yet refined enough to be sensational to ride... FZ1 is one such bike and for a tourer in India it makes so much sense in the litre class segment.

My CBR250r is non-ABS too for exactly that reason... need for raw...

    Cheers bro.

Really love the fact that the pics seen has some road dirt on it... most litre class bikes here are hardly ridden like that, like a proper bike should... Piece of cake to do Mumbai - Pune etc but Mumbai - Hyd on an FZ1 is something i'm dying to delve into mate... Thanks for posting up... do give us fans of the underdog FZ1, something to chew on quick.

It is extremely practical and second least molested import on Indian rds after say the Bandit maybe. One extremely strong reason for a buy in my books...

Nice pics... please post more from your trip.

      Cheers.
      thanks mate!
will be posting the pics along with ownership experience in another thread
i would say no SBK is extremely practical in our country, of course ya its one among the pratical SBK's!
and it attracts quite a lot people, thanks to the noise it makes

Thats what is good... it strikes a sort of good balance... you can choose to be either mingled in or choose to give her a few revs and show who's who...

Oh by the way, have you ever got her screaming like a banshee? That oh so typical Yamaha FZ1 post 7.3k rpm ... i'm guessing there aren't many places where she can actually scream her heart out...

Anyway, waiting for some pic updates mate...

Cheers and keep her talking... if you know what I mean.

        • Re: Fz1 Ownership Thread

Hi Owners!! Its been a while since anyone put anything here. I am in the market for a used FZ1, and have shortlisted a few bikes. However, I have been reading a lot about FZ1 online, and there are some reviews that point to snatchy fuelling at lower rpms.

Hence, I would like to know from the owners if they have noticed any such fuelling issues. Its the part I have copied from an online forum.

Rolling the throttle on from a closed position is rewarded with a sudden jerk as the power chimes in. Oddly it wasn't as pronounced as on the half-faired bike (according to Yamaha dealers some bikes are worse than others), but that doesn't stop it being very annoying. On a short test ride, or low speed commute, the glitch isn't that pronounced, which is perhaps why few people complain about it during test rides, but use the bike every day and it's a real *****. Given a twisty road where you'll be closing the throttle, turning into corners then powering out, the glitch makes smooth riding impossible. You just can't make the throttle respond smoothly at small openings, which is such a shame as it ruins the enjoyment of the bike. It's almost a really good machine but this spoils it.

It would be great if the owners can give their opinion on this matter. I would also like to know

1.about service center in Mumbai where I can get my regular service done.
          2. Service schedule and cost of each service including oil and oil filter change.

          Thanks,
          Chinmaya

The link which you have provided is dated 2008 and I guess this issue has been taken care.
