i'll never understand random negative one liners on Xbhp and disappearance. Are most Indians destined to crib and complain instead of appreciate the marvel of present day automobile technology. I think not. I absolutely despise comments pointing out negative things about a world wide respected bike like the monster, here on Xhbp. We, as a country are still young when it comes down to performance bikes. Let's not reaffirm our immaturity, by blurting out shit on the basis of half knowledge and ignorance. This negative comment goes out to all the ignorant ones. Not to the mature and sensible riders out here who do things a little differently. The mature riders use stuff like "google" to research stuff before posting in a public forum.

Ducati has sold 240,000 Monsters to this day. The monster has alone kept the fortunes of Ducati alive through tough times. The opinion of someone who owns one matters more than someone who dosent know jack.
And no matter what your biking allegiance, you cant deny the fact that Ducati or for that matter any Italian make is the pinnacle of motorcycling.
To each his own.

Respect. Thanks Carlitos. Now this is why i hang out here. Always something to learn. It's true that Ducati is mostly known for its high end superbikes, but few know that the monster makes the most sales and keeps them up and running. The history behind the monster is also so interesting. If only people could respect instead of hate. The world would be a better place to be in.Originally posted by Carlitos View PostLet haters be haters man.

Whoa guys . . . why the hostility?
guess that was just his personal opinion . . . you cant deny him that . . .
i do understand that someone who has put such a lot of effort to buy an exotic wouldnt like someone bad mouthing his beloved
and we need to understand that every machine is awesome at some things but have their own quirks . . . thats why we love them after all . . .Last edited by itsarjun; 08-08-2011, 10:41 PM.

Alrite Folks,
I was mearly comparing my experience 2009 Honda CBR600RR and 2011 Ducati Monster 796 (Currently Own)
I am not going to get hooked with negativity/arguments/fights here
!!!
I love riding and respect a lot of knowledgable ppl here at xbhp.
I should have introduced myself, never late than now
Currently own 2011 Ducati Monster 796, cranked about 5000 miles, due for 2nd oil change (I am doing it early and not going by the manual)
Upgrades None: Want to keep it stock, thats the way I love it.
Have fun riding guys!!!1) 1999 Suzuki Samurai
2) 2005 Bajaj Pulsar DTSI 180 (G2)
3) 2007 Baja Pulsar DTSI 200
4) 2008 Yamaha Gladiator 125cc

Peace to you, My monster brother. I'm sure you had your reasons for the statement. You do have the right to express. I apologize for the disrespect. But you are comparing 2 very different bike configurations, aren't you? You seem to have clocked quite a few miles on that monster. If you still remember your honda days, maybe you should keep one in your garage.Ride both of them. :-) That's why plenty of folk ride multiple bikes. They are all so beautiful. Anyway, take it easy. Keep posting bro.Originally posted by Enthusiast View PostAlrite Folks,

Since yours is the oldest Monster 796 here, would request you to pen down your experiences so far. 5000 miles is quite good for a 2011 model and I would also be interested to read where all you have taken her so far, what kind of fuel you have used if you taken her to the countryside, any irritating niggles faced and the overall experience...
I have ridden the Honda CB 600F frequently and I can relate to what you mean. All I can say is the power delivery is completely different and one just has to adjust to this and enjoy the machine.
And the oil change and air filter cleaning ahead of recommended schedule is a given for all our machines in Indian conditions. I'm myself planning to get the 2nd oil change done after 7000kms and the air filter cleaning every 3000 kms.Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

Here is the preview of things that I noticed:
I have had few minor issues with starting the Monster @ times, the system resets itself when the battery power goes below 12v, after the reset it starts just fine (it goes through like a re-boot) have you folks had this issue?
The trick that I learnt was to crank the motor the moment the system initializes.
Another thing that I noticed was, the Clutch fluild was low for some reason, thus bought some brake oil and topped it up.
Will share a detailed report sometime next week, with some pics offcourse.1) 1999 Suzuki Samurai
