For city riding any decent helmet would do I guess, just pick one that catches your fancy in terms of design and graphics. All reputed helmets are safe. I'm trying to get my hands on a roof boxer V8.Second the comment about Arai - once you wear one, you will not go to anything else again. What I have noticed with Arai, is all their products are consistent on comfort, stability, and fit. With other brands, I have noticed that some helmets are very good while the rest seem mediocre.Originally posted by jvh View PostShark is an excellent helmet too. I liked it more than the Arai because of its light weight. Shoei is another very good brand though I don't have personal experience. And when buying, always wear your choice for a minimum of 5~10 mins to gauge the comfort level.
Get a Corsair V (also called RX7 GP) - it has a spoiler at the back which can be raised/lowered depending on riding speed.

A bit late but congrats, welcome to the ducatista club.Originally posted by kallan19 View Postnow that sounds like some good confident advice..thanks buddy..I'll look into this. I also like the Roof...seems nice for city riding...
Have heard good things about Shark but never tried and not easy to get hold of in India. Shoei is just all talk no walk, and doesn't last long.Originally posted by jvh View PostShark is an excellent helmet too. I liked it more than the Arai because of its light weight. Bingo about the consistency.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostSecond the comment about Arai - once you wear one, you will not go to anything else again. The RX7 is 50k plus in India, I got mine from Japan, the Haga Monza (the one with the monza map and co-ordinates, ltd edition) for a really good price. Even the cheaper Arais are awesome but still expensive, 30k starting range. But any Arai will last you for a very long time and they are very confidence inspiring. Bear in mind that the original Arai visors are pretty pricey.sigpic StreetFighter

Sometimes you get a very good deal, and I have been lucky so far. My first Arai was picked up from Japan when the Yen was hovering at Rs.34 so I got the Arai for a song. My second Arai was from ridersdiscount - I got the Corsair V Crutchlow replica, and a smoked visor thrown in for Rs. 22,000, which I thought to be an extremely good deal. And my first Arai still looks brand new after five years.Originally posted by Streetfighter View Post

Didn't one of the Arai's come in Ducati tricolore as well?

I don't remember how much I paid but it was a really really good price. I would normally buy arai from prs but the monza was a ltd ed and not available anywhere. Managed to track one down in Japan and had to have it.
The ducati one is sold at the duc shop for some insane price IIRC. Thanks but no thanks ducati, I don't wanna pray twice the price for your logo. The tricolore one can be bought only from duc I think.sigpic StreetFighter

Would disagree with you on Shoei. They make great helmets. I have had a RF1000 for 3 years now and its a great helmet. It has held up really well. Sure an RF1000 which is the entry level Shoei wont match up to an ARAI, but the X11 and X12 are just as good if not better.Originally posted by Streetfighter View Post

OT : There is a Ducati Monster with aftermarket pipes in Chennai which I've heard ( honestly ) . He flew past me and a friend ( both of us were doing 120 kph sth ) on ECR and i was just able to make out that it was a Monster . He will be seen mostly with a Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird ( with Micron Slip Ons) .Stock is boring , power is everything .

Kallan19 - Hope we are not cluttering your thread. Just helping you out
Totally agree.Originally posted by TenHut View PostActually..it can be any helmet but if it's not from the top range of the brands product portfolio it's gonna have some highspeed issues no matter what.
@Kallan19, another to the list -check out the Scorpion RPM-1000 helmets. Slightly heavier compared to Shark and Arai though but excellent VFM and way cheaper than both.
How about the Vector-2 and Profile? I used one for about 2 weeks when I got a chance to rent outside and it was very basic though comfortable. The same chap offered me a Set Gibernau replica Vector for 330CHF. But it was blue one and I didn't like the colour.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostSecond the comment about Arai - once you wear one, you will not go to anything else again. The Arai vector/profile are great helmets - even if you buy the cheapest ARAI(which the Vector is not), you can't go wrong. Like I said before, their quality, fit and finish is consistent across models.Originally posted by jvh View Post

Arai + Ducati combo
Had no idea there were so many Ducati colors in Arai. The Corsair V in tricolore must cost a bomb!
