Sorry to hear about the "incident", hopefully you are feeling a lot better now, after all the rational thinking! How much does a replacement cost, have you enquired at Ducati? The indicator is a work of art itself, but don't worry too much about this, the rest of the bike has many elements which are also beautiful. Stare at them long enough and maybe you might forget about the indicator (wishful thinking?)...

I personally agree to the two points above.Originally posted by kallan19 View Post
I suddenly changed when I started riding the 250GT. A strange sense of arrogance creeping in. As if I own the road. Did I own the road? In hindsight, far from it. The concept owned me. The concept of this rebellious biking culture and the power between by legs which allows me to take on any other commuter class vehicle was far from wise and mature. It's a concept which every person here might relate with. I have observed a strange arrogance in certain people about owning certain things. May it be a car or a bike or any such worldly possessions. Just because we payed and bought a high quality motorcycle, doesn't mean we actually own it. There is no need to have this vague arrogance about it. If anything, it means to be humbled in the presence of such a skillfully made machine and be inspired by it workmanship.
Anyway, my point is, the next time you see a fellow biker, smile. Wave your hand. Share a positive mature conversation. **** the lame talk of maintainence and mileage. Talk about ride quality. Feelings. Safety. Helmets, gloves, boots. Stuff that matter. And if you see me on the road, smile at me and wave. Your love will be reciprocated. I promise
Which i have also felt when I got my Ninja 250R but thanks to the humble riders whom i met through xBhp I plucked it out of my head in the beginning stage it.
The 2nd point is something which I follow already, glad to hear somebody else is educating our fellow riders likewise through this thread.

it breaks really easily and dangles if hit by a knee or any other leg swinging activity. It's a known defect among ducati monster owners who have gone through the heartbreak of watching a friend/wife or aquaintance swing their leg over the bike and cracking the plastic as you look at it dumb founded. It's a secret. I'm writing this report to delay all divorce proceedings, if any were applied for, after the wife broke it off whilst a little misjudged swing, over the top. Now I say these things by experience. I was heart broken to see it that way. The first thing one needs to do is take a deep breath. It happens to the best of riders. Your dealer will tell you the same. Avoid any form of public display of anger. You will regret it and embarrass yourself and your loved ones. If "you" broke it, lean closer and try to stick it in before you panic. If your "wife/friend" breaks it. Hug her/them and first tell them it's ok. You have no idea how bad they feel at that very moment. They want your love and support. Do not be rude to them (like I was). In the end it is an inanimate object, which cannot take priority over human beings and their emotions.
I have a few solutions:
1) Araldite
2) replace the part after checking with your nearest ducati dealer
3) replace rear indicators with smaller, less intrusive ones (buy online)
4) go for a tail chop and take control of the situation. Be all macho and tell everybody-- "I was going to change it anyway" Bask in the glory of your inevitable mod. Take a bow.
5) keep the seat cowl on..ride solo :-)
for all the poor souls that go through the break click the link below..its a 696 thread but it applies for 796 too:-)

Sunday morning ride
Sorry about the indicator, I know a little about how you would've felt. Buy online is my suggestion as parts at dealership are pricy (Rs 6500/- for brake lever).
Went for a Sunday morning ride to Lonavala with a friend. Left at 6 thinking we'd get back by 10. Morning showers along with traffic made conditions tough and we got there only by 8.45. Met a couple of SBK's on the way who immediately dispensed the "caution" advice.
Ride was amazing, the monster behaved brilliantly and was basking in it's own glory. Almost all non-ducatisi's as well as non-bikers couldn't get enough of it, obviouosly neither could I.

Finally hit the highway in the night on my way back from Kamal Amrohi Studios (Kamalistan)..hit around 136 kmph..could have hit much more if I was appropriately geared up..
A few observations:
1) my studds ninja 3g modular helmet did not hold up well and didn't give me the confidence to push for more...the chin part of the helmet kept pressing towards my chin due to the force of the wind. Need to get a better speed helmet..any suggestions guys?
2) Wasn't wearing my cramster jacket...I know..I'm sorry...I regret it so badly because my t-shirt kept flying upwards and distracting me...riding high speeds with a flimsy t-shirt was really scary...I'm gonna fix that part tonight.
3) I was riding with a backpack...again such a huge distraction. Gonna leave it behind tonight and carry my waistpack for bare minimum drag.
4) Need to practice lots more to handle the 796 at high speeds. The bike touches high speeds really fast and riding back from an all night shoot at 5am was pushing one's luck. I tried to ride slowly but the roads were mostly empty and I just couldn't resist.
5) Bombay roads are challenging. But an otherwise boring stretch of road, become exciting, due to it's various bumps and unprofessional workmanship. I know it will change someday, but till then, the roads itself are an adventure. Enjoy it, while it lasts right?
I will be hitting the highway again around the same time 5.00am (kamalistan to bandra) tonight and tomorrow. If a brother Xbhpian is around...wave out ok..:-)
Also guys, any friendly suggestions regarding this topic would be highly appreciated..
Don't forget to wave :-)

For helmets, head over to Performance Racing Store or Bachoo Motors. They also have jackets (which are better than cramster in fit, feel, safety etc.) and tail/tank bags for carrying your necessities.Originally posted by kallan19 View PostA few observations:

Hi guys,Originally posted by imjoshee View PostUpdate on today's morning run
So its update time on my early ride with the 796 from Kamal Amrohi Studios to Bandra(w) at around 5am.
After learning that I don't need to carry much gear to the shoot, I carry just a waistpack with my wallet and phone. Wore the Cramster Breeze jacket with all its various protection intact and went on my way. Same helmet..the studds 3g Ninja modular kind.
So this time around the ride was way more better. More confidence due to the jacket and gloves. I am yet to invest in knee guards. But the 2nd night was so much more fun to ride home. I did have one problem. I was sleepy and tired. Felt the need to just pace myself and not push for speed.
The 3rd day was another story. I wore cargo pants and so I didn't need the waist pack. Felt so much more comfortable when I bent down on the tank and safely hit 153kmph. I know that many of you would say that I could have pushed more. But I wanna take it easy. I enjoyed the ride and wasn't sure about random folk criss-crossing on the highway. Few points of observation. Clip-ons would be a good idea when the helmet is touched to the tank at high speeds. I'm sure it would give more comfortable controls. But I dont think I'm ever going to change to those. It would require a full re-working of the handlebar section and various elements connected to the same. Overall a nice 3 days of early morning riding. No over-heating issues or unstable behavior. Felt confident with less gear on my back and more gear on myself. The jacket felt good for what it's cost but I'm sure the dianese leather jacket (which i have been eying) would have a totally different feel.
Next time would be a different story.
Trying to organize a Lavassa road trip soon. Sounds like a Mumbai G2G :-)
Anybody here interested? let me know :-)
