i suggest you invest in good riding gear at the earliest.

the ninja helmet is not ideal for these bikes, and just you to have a look at the alpinestars OR joe rocket textile jackets - they offer far superior protection & confidence while riding. though can get a bit hot, but then i would prefer sweat over bruised skin and blood.
a friend had a mishap about a year back on a 600rr, and was saved purely because of the helmet, gloves and joe rocket jacket. he wasn't wearing proper riding boots, so he got bruised a lot on his ankles and knees.

have a look at performance racing store. they have all sorts of riding gear.
and the guys there are bikers themselves.

another unsolicited recommendation. try not to carry unnecessary things with you while riding. buy a small phone which slips in easily in your pocket OR can be kept in the under seat storage area. try keeping your wallet and all there too.
the joy of riding without anything on you (other than clothes and riding gear) is something totally different.
and if you end up buying good riding jacket, it will have enough pockets to keep all these and some more. heck you also get a small hole to let your earphone's cable come out so that you can listen to your ipod while riding.

    ride safe!
    cheers!!

            Good advice. Thanks!
Kallan19, I felt interference of backpack while riding at speeds above 60KPH, maybe special ones with straps across the waist will reduce the effect. Unfortunately you need to carry a back pack for tings other than mobile phone & wallet when you're touring. Another thing I experienced was that riding stance on Monster is aggressive and kind of leaning forward. I don't know if it's just me or a common thing, as a result I feel a load of weight on my palms even though I wore gloves. Wondering if I can get padded gloves.

I am aware of PRS guys...what I was hoping for was some real world advice from actual users of certain helmets locally available that work well at high speeds. Generic advice really doesn't help. Most people already know of PRS. It's the specific kind of helmets that work or don't work.
Anyway I'm going through the helmet thread. I guess I'll have to keep looking.
I went to PRS the other day because some pathetic son of a *****, stole my Nelson-riggs bike cover from an underground parking. If you guys see a bike cover which says Nelson-riggs on it, in Bombay, do let me know. I went there to buy the cover again cause I liked its portability. But they didn't have it. I guess they were sold out. So I settled for the Rjays cover and it looks like it is a more hardcore cover. Not as light but a good cover nonetheless.

Master Street Hawk - I think a phone call to PRS would satisfy your need for the frame slider. I won't be going there anytime soon. Sorry buddy.

IMO, nothing, absolutely nothing, comes close ARAI when you want stability at high-er speeds. I'll never wear another helmet again. I haven't tried AGV as it doesn't fit me comfortably.

For city riding any decent helmet would do I guess, just pick one that catches your fancy in terms of design and graphics. All reputed helmets are safe. I'm trying to get my hands on a roof boxer V8.

Shark is an excellent helmet too. I liked it more than the Arai because of its light weight. Shoei is another very good brand though I don't have personal experience. And when buying, always wear your choice for a minimum of 5~10 mins to gauge the comfort level.

I can swear by shark too. Actually..it can be any helmet but if it's not from the top range of the brands product portfolio it's gonna have some highspeed issues no matter what.
