Yes sir, I have heard of tank-slappers and I shall rephrase my sentence about Ninja and GT. But you'll mostly find a steering damper in more powerful motorcycles or in motorcycles used in extreme conditions like dirt biking or extensive off-roading. Sure, both Ninja and GT are capable of experiencing these issues depending on conditions, but in almost all cases they do not require a steering damper. As I said, front shockers nowadays are becoming good enough to take care of this except only in most demanding conditions.

Specially in Indian bikes, the damper is avoided to reduce costs. There is absolutely no harm in providing one.Originally posted by men_in_jean View PostIs it! Heard of tank-slappers? And both 250R's are powerful enough to generate one. And with more aggressive seating where you lean on the bars, it is more. And tank-slappers does not necessarily require high speed!
However, It does not mean you cannot live without a steering damper. But given our road conditions and the type of bike it is a safe thing to have just like an ABS.

One don't need a steering damper for normal riding. Please understand that a steering damper is needed to keep the handle bar stable in case of a wobble. How many times do we experience a wobble at front end under normal city riding or even in highway riding? High speed is one of the factor leading to a handle bar wobble, another example is when the front wheel lands back on road after a wheelie or, as I mentioned in a previous post, while doing serious off-roading. This has nothing to do with Indian motorcycles, not all motorcycles made and sold abroad have steering dampers either!Originally posted by speedfreakz View PostSpecially in Indian bikes, the damper is avoided to reduce costs. ^^^ Trying to avoid any debates on topics of little importance such as dampers. Having had some personal experience of using a damper and realizing its results, Therefore the suggestion - for some specific requirement and not a generalization. If viewed as expense, then better not to go for it.
No matter how good the suspension is, it does help in compression and rebound damping and in no way eliminates wobble feedback to the clip-on's.
The size of the bike would be of no relevance here since both Ninja or GT can cross 140k and hitting a wobbly surface at that speed can very nearly result in loss of control.______________________________________

On the one hand Autocar has been immensely tightfisted in rating this bike while on the other hand Zigwheels has written so good about it..(just read the points quoted by nagoo here)..
It falls exactly in between in my experience...
All I can say is, it is a vastly improved bike over its 'elders'...
Its a big matter of price here. Hyosung price it competitively and you would get buyers and applause....!!!2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
2006 - Eterno (sold)
2008 - Dio (Owned)

bike tooOriginally posted by nagoo View PostDon;t know ..but the bike given to them[red/white] seems to be brand new ..unlike the other one [red/black] which is extensively used by everyone
.
i am waiting reports from BikeIndia and Xbhp
IIRC - Bike India, Bike Advice seems to have used the same bike!
When I first rode the Ninja250r, it was a test bike that was ruined by Bike India and Zigwheels by popping wheelies and burnouts... Yes the drop in performance was visible... but then one could still make out on whats a "wear" issue and whats not. No matter who has ridden the bike before, the important aspects of handling - braking and to an extent vibes too would not change drastically... If they did, then its a major worry!
Is there a link for the Autocar review? They are much more "credible" in my view in "scoops" .. So can assume that would transalate into credible reviews too!Originally posted by Devilpulsarian View PostOn the one hand Autocar has been immensely tightfisted in rating this bike while on the other hand Zigwheels has written so good about it..(just read the points quoted by nagoo here)..

I dont have Autocar's link. Its in ther magazine for this month. But for 250R, they have been really parsimonious in awarding points. This is possibly the first bike I have seen with final rating of 5, the other being Mahindra Stallio I guess...!
Its a good bike...in fact a very good bike, provided Hyosung understands its worth and position it at a competitive end...
My view - put it at 2 lac and see how people ditch the CBR (which I know is not going to happen)..majority of them. We rode it along a Ninja and this bike simply should not be placed closer to it. Period!
Our review should be out by tomorrow.
PTR, as they say, are coming out with it soon.Originally posted by nagoo View Postwrong question to him

As far as I have seen there were two test bikes given to the media - the black/red one and the white/red one. The 'rusty' thing was a part of the white/red GT.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostWhatever video review I saw on youtube, almost every bike had rusty thing on their muffler at the red encircled area.. There appears that Hyosung might have worked upon the exhaust for India.2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)

+1 on those comments! The closer it gets to Ninja, the more the comparison of fit and finish will happen with it.Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

I think it is steeply prices for a Hyosung. The Ninja makes for a better buy at that price point as there is not much of a difference in the cost of both the bikes.
Even if a few would like the GT over the Ninja, they will have to think twice before putting down the moolah as the resale value looking the bigger GT is not going to be anywhere close to the Ninja.
I would surely want to ride it to see the difference off hand. Any bookings in Mumbai?2004 Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSI, 2009 Yamaha R15, 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R

I wanted to get a Ninja 250R as well...but at the end I decided to go for Looks over performance as I will be using it for daily traveling in the city ... and the big size of GT250R will be an Advantage if I upgrade to a 600 or a liter class bike...So finalized this !
