Yeah,I had seen those bikes in many of the videos of the bike, uploaded on Youtube-"Kasinski Comet GT 250"

    Kasinski Comet GT 250

well according the the tech specs, indeed that bike has a 130sec tyre.

But the max power is rated as 32.1bhp at 10.5k rpm and a torque 23.1nm
But according the the specs by overdrive(27.8bhp,21nm of torque),they seemed to have detuned it.
If Kawasaki can bring their bike to India, without detuning it ,why cant Hyosung?!
And in India,as mentioned earlier,If its unique selling proposition is its big bike looks, why are they bringing in the Brazilian version? How much of a cost cutting can they achieve by downsizing the rear tyres!

After checking with the brazillian article on the GTR here is the reason :

"One of the main changes in this third generation of the Comet is the tires. Remain the same efficient Pirelli Sport Demon, but the rear was adopted as 130/70 instead of 150/70, while still in the front 110/70. For those who like wide tire just by visual inspection can not imagine how the Comet improved with thinner rear tire. In leaving it more manageable, it was more balanced, in harmony with all power and suspension."

but instead of PSD tyres we will get Shitko tyres... Oops i mean Shinko

Never mind it has been removed already

Here is the oil+air cooling adopted for GTR which is special read below :

"Here's a caveat to the experts: this bike is the cooling air + oil because the oil passes through the radiator and then circulates in the head, command, etc. and also the inner walls of the cylinder before returning to the sump and start circuit technology ( SACS - Suzuki Advanced Cooling System -, drawn from Suzuki). The advantage of this system is to eliminate the need for a radiator with water, in some engines, but requires the motor to maintain the cooling fins in the cylinder. The drawback: consumes oil to Dedeu!
But not every bike with oil cooler can be called air + oil. Honda CB 300, for example, although the oil cooler is RA, because the oil does not pass through the walls of the cylinder, it goes straight to the crankcase!
        "

and the current GT's are of 3rd Generation..

        • ok, so reading the above links, we came to know hyosung gt250r's oil cooling is not that bad and it is indeed oil cooling instead of just having an oil cooler like our P220.

so can anybody tell what is the oil sump capacity?

and since not too many other manufacturers use this method of cooling, does it have its own inherent problems?

can someone throw more light on it.

          • Initially,I was under the impression that both the Hyosung GT250r(faired) and the Hyosung GT250(naked) had the same engine specifications, same power output, torque etc but, just noticed this
As I was going through the specifications of the Brazilian GT250,so called the "Kasinki comet"-I found a difference between the GT250N and GT250R

            GT250N-Rated Power 29.2 hp / 10,500 rpm
            Maximum Power 32.1 hp / 10,500 rpm
            Torque 2.31 kgf.ma 8000 rpm

            GT250R-
            Rated Power 26.8 hp / 10,000 rpm
            Maximum Power 29.4 hp / 10,000 rpm
            Torque 2.20 kgf.ma 6750 rpm

I couldn't understand why this difference in the specs?.Maybe if the naked version produced more torque at lower RPMs,i would have thought that it was more optimized for the street, but that it not the case here. Can some experts please explain?

            • ^^ there seems to be some error in your post, what is the difference between rated power and maximum power of an internal combustion engine?

these terms are used to describe electrical motors.

as far as bikes and engines are concerned, maximum power and maximum torque are the terms used.

You can refer to the technical specifications on the lower right corner of the page. The page is originally in Portuguese,I used Google Translate so there might be some ambiguity in the exact translation of terms.
But the difference in the figures can clearly be seen even without translation.

Different countries have different emissions norms, the engine has to be tuned accordingly which results in different power outputs...

                  • Visited Ronit Motors,Lower Parel some days back while returning from office for inquiring about the 250R, the person there said that the price would be somewhere in between 2.5 to 3L on road. More closer to the former figure.
the GT650R and the naked one were on display, and considering the 250 would be similar to its 650cc sibling in size and looks, man it will certainly give the rider/onlooker a feeling of a higher displacement motorcycle!

Took a seat on the 650R and it brought a smile on my face immediately.

The emission norms for any given country has to be same for a particular bike.I guess you dint understand my question ,why is there difference in the specifications of the GT250 and GT250R,especially i was puzzled over the fact that the naked version makes more torque at a higher Rpm

                      • Actually I think the GT250N had got mistyped specifications on the Kasinki site itself.........a 32hp twin and that too naked !!!! That Hyosung rocks if it is true.

But I feel the GT250R has the correct specification 29bhp is all we knew about the Comet's maximum power all these years.

Again, there is also this factor that most websites and mags has tested only the GT250R, so the GT250N maybe having this potential for real..............however why wud be there more power and torque on a less costly variant.

So you mean to say the company have quoted wrong numbers on their official specification page.

Why isn't that possible? The exact same thing happened with Official Garware site when they were launched the GT650N.
