SCOOP: India bound Hyosung GT250Rs!

finally reviews of GT250R started flowing
here is the imp parts of review from ZIGWHEELS
But one major positive change on the GT250R in contrast to the larger GT650R is the vibe-free nature of the motorcycle even at high rpm. Even when the rev counter needle bounces off the redline at 10,500rpm, the engine is free of vibrations and there are no rattles coming through from the body panels but just a rowdy non-stop throw of power thrusting forth the GT250R with piles of energy.
.
.
Despite being an air-cooled motor helped by an oil-cooling system, the twin-cylinder Hyosung GT250R shows no signs of over-heating even within crowded cityscapes as it is with most large capacity motorcycles.
.
.
.
.Together with the advanced USD forks up front, the suspension components endow the GT250R with superior handling and stability mid-corners
.
performance with a 0-100km/h time of 8.33 seconds
.
.
the GT250R also posted an impressive top speed of 149km/h
.
.
The Hyosung GT250R does not have too many of these glitches and it does exceedingly well when it comes to rewarding the rider with jollies, especially those who are looking for a 250cc no-nonsense super-sports, race-focused machine.
.
.
the GT250R too does excel when it comes to outright performance and race bike-like handling.
competitive pricing that the Garware-Hyosung tie-up will bring, around Rs 2.5 lakh (on-road, Pune)
and BTW .. the Red/White looks too awesome

^^^ it seems it is too positive to be true....specially about less vibes even on high rpm's
well it is not our headache that the bike is imported as CKD... whether the manufacturer manufactures it here or imports it as CKD or CBU...is his headache... what potential customers will see is its actual worth. if it would have been manufactured in india, it would have costed less. we just want a fair price.Originally posted by nagoo View Postyour logic will not fit here... i that case both Ninja and cbr should have been at the same price .. it isn;t here ..
all other bikes [GTR,Ninja] except CBR is Imported in ckd form which attracts lot of custom and import duties + assembling and other charges .. that's why even-though the power/cc is same it still costs sky and earth.
but lets not start the price related discussion once again.Last edited by princesirohi; 05-25-2012, 02:09 AM.

^^Good review indeed.By the pics the build quality seems to be top notch.
You are pulling me back to GT250R. :-)
Can we increase the power from 27PS using ECU remapping? I think it will void the warranty.
If 2.5lac OTR in Pune, what we can expect in Bangalore?
These are few worry points
1.The reach to the handlebars is taxing, courtesy the oversized 17-litre fuel tank on the GT250R which compels the rider’s arms to go around the fuel tank rather than reach comfortably over the tank.
2.It is easy to scare yourself silly on the GT250R with its forceful power delivery coupled with the extreme riding position that puts a lot of pressure on the rider’s wrist, especially going over bumps as the hyper-reactive upside down front suspension responds with an even violent rebound, many times leading to the feared tank-slapping behavioral trait of a motorcycle
3.While the brakes have sufficient bite, the feel coming to the levers is weak and it requires a lot of travel on the lever before the brakes actually start working
Can the brake issue be solved?Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012

we do one thing lets meet up post launch and give a visit to showroom and have a test ride .. guess it will solve our doubts ..
for B'lore add another 15K extra.
only solution is change the tyres to Perilli Sports Demon/IRC with same size and specs and change Break pads to ECB .. it will solve the breaking issue [as per the various online reviews]

Don;t know ..but the bike given to them[red/white] seems to be brand new ..unlike the other one [red/black] which is extensively used by everyoneOriginally posted by princesirohi View Post^^^ it seems it is too positive to be true....specially about less vibes even on high rpm's
.
i am waiting reports from BikeIndia and Xbhp

1. Yes, the handlebar reach is pretty much "out-there", if you're anything over 5'5", you should have no worries as far as reach is concerned.
2. Yes, you will get wrist pain if you dont sit correctly. It is easy to learn how-not-to-pressure on your wrists within a period of a month of ownership and after that it is smooth sailing.
The USD's are not as Hyper-Reactive as one would expect them to be. Add a steering damper if concerned about bad roads.
3. If you're wanting more feel rather than the actual bite,
a. Stiffen (The already rock-hard) suspension.
b. Upgrade the rubber hoses to HEL/Galfer steel braided lines, This would reduce the long lever travel too.
c. Use organic brake-pads, they have poor life compared to Ceramic/Sintered pads but offer way better feel.______________________________________

2.5 lakhs on road seems to be a good pricing, hmmm good that CBR ABS is taking time for delivery, waiting for a test ride now. Zig wheels says tyre aint great but others have said its good. Only a real time test ride will solve this.
Brat: if you hear about the GT with Chennai dealer, PM me pls.

Call me too. I want to test ride this too. I will not buy but I just want to have a feel of what a 250 cc is.Originally posted by nagoo View Postwe do one thing lets meet up post launch and give a visit to showroom and have a test ride .. guess it will solve our doubts ..

What is the point if all this cost us around 50K?
Will cost equal to N250R,but still lacks power.Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012

I trust these were your worry points with respect to the GT? Hence, some thoughts.Originally posted by vivek_k_p View Post@Brat,

I have no comments on cost wise justification b/w GT250R and N250R. How the company wants to place their product is completely upto them.
Last time i checked, even the mighty N250R does not sport a steering damper or EBC/HEL pads and lines, which offer superior levels of handling.
But for anyone who has these points on their 'Need-to-have', list i dont see them looking to the GT250 as an option and N250R would be a no brainer.
Sure.Originally posted by MADCATR View PostBrat: if you hear about the GT with Chennai dealer, PM me pls.______________________________________

A steering damper is mainly used to minimize or eliminate the unwanted handlebar shake/wobble. It isn't primarily meant to improve a motorcycle's handling; however, since it stabilizes the handle bar by eliminating the wobble, the handling can feel better. This wobble is mostly experienced on much more powerful motorcycles that are capable of very high speeds or very quick sudden acceleration thrusts. Motorcycles like Ninja 250 or GT250R do not need a steering damper, they are not powerful enough to have a wobble due to high speed unless there's some other problem with the front end. In today's modern motorcycles, the front shockers have become good enough to take care of this.Last edited by Satellite.kid; 05-25-2012, 06:46 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

i might agree on this .. even some of the 600 too don;t have steering dampers ... i think its due to the last point which u have made.. as i can't find the steering dampers for any low powered bikesOriginally posted by Satellite.kid View PostA steering damper is mainly used to minimize or eliminate the unwanted handlebar shake/wobble. Steering damper in motorcycles like Ninja 250 or GT250R would be an overkill, they really don't need it. It would inherently increase the motorcycle cost.Last edited by Satellite.kid; 05-25-2012, 06:33 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Is it! Heard of tank-slappers? And both 250R's are powerful enough to generate one. And with more aggressive seating where you lean on the bars, it is more. And tank-slappers does not necessarily require high speed!Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostMotorcycles like Ninja 250 or GT250R do not need a steering damper, they are not powerful enough to have a wobble due to high speed unless there's some other problem with the front end
However, It does not mean you cannot live without a steering damper. But given our road conditions and the type of bike it is a safe thing to have just like an ABS.MJ
