AFAIK, an average condition RD will cost more than 1L here in bangalore. For maintained RDs its betn 2 and 3 lacs !

Guys, I had a silver grey colour RD (HT) 1984 model bought from my mausaji (who was inspired by Jakie Shroff in Film hero & bought that) in 1990 for 25K who was not comfortable with the acceleration of the machine and had to drop my mausi twice from the pillion. In 1998, I got fed up with the fuel mileage issue and sold for mere 14K to a Hyderabad guy. The buyer so far has nor transferred the sweetheart in his name and my name appear in registration details. That fella has not paid subsequent road taxes also. I have no contact details of him now. Now I regret very much that looking to present day value & hype over the bike.

              Hi,

The priority will be to look out for maximum OE parts on the bike, as they cost a bomb if you have to procure it from somewhere. And even if you get hold of a few parts, they may be or may not be of good condition. Check for the cylinder (whether sleeved or unsleeved), original carburettors. There seems to be no nominal prices nowadays, as the price varies on the condition of the bike and the OE parts available on it. The selling price will be very less (which is again upwards of a lakh rupees) if the vehicle doesn't have proper documents.

Regarding HT or LT, its left to you to make a choice. HT being a more powerful bike with a different power band. LT may be a little more fuel efficient(but not a great difference) than the HT.

              Hope this helps.

Would anyone know the process of converting a lt to ht? would a simple swap of the block pistons carbs and exhaust inserts do? I have sourced the blocks [ht] but i am lacking the carb and exhaust inserts as of now.

you can get away by changing the cylinders and cylinder heads, as for the carbs never heard of anybody changing them
