    to Rajnish..

Hey man ur tips on the RD are really awesome...thankx on behalf of everyone else too!

btw, i have an rd- [i'm the 2nd owner, CDI kit, HT, '83] that's on LAST OVERSIZE!! how much longer do u think it would last..[i've done around 5 k kms so far] ...and boy it's still riding like a dream...to be frank,i did a mileage test..just for the heck of it at 6.00 am on a Sunday morning and it returned 24 kms to one liter!!so i think that speaks for the condition it is in..?

Rajneesh, I remember u mentioned a bore job would be around 15-16k?...i dont mind spending it..cause [and this might be the best tribute] the rd is an rd...has character that's very rarely found! [that's why i've kept it despite being a lucky [young] bastard to own a ZX 12r..]

So hope 2 hear from u soon man..
    I feel the need..........THE NEED 4 SPEED!!!!!!!

Hey Guys i got a deal in my native place(Bhilai) for RD350 just for 28 K and that machine is in completly dismelted condition as the guy(Bike Mechanic)is having some financial problem to assemble it again.I checked each and every part only the crank is having some play in it but the Bore is original no over sizeing no sleevs. All things are in good condition ( You can expect that much from 18 year old bike).Only u have to repaint it with some engine work like ignition, new piston rings(original size), New cranks,Electricals,RPM meter.Original 29,000 ODO reading. Is it a good deal?

do you get 45kmpl on a CB400? RD is a street racer and is a performance machine. Mileage and performance are inversely proportional most of the times

Okie Zaeem you are one lucky bugger, you just turned 18 and there you are gonna be a RD owner..and moreover you have a good budget man.. 50K you should be able to find a good RD and also bring it up to you personal taste.. but let me warn you... buying the RD is only half the story.. to maintain it you will be spending much more than your college budget would allow... well if you can get say 3-4K every month for the RD from you dad then dont even think twice.... ok let me explain some stuff.. there are older posts which will help you with this LT,HT stuff... Let me expain simply... RD had basically two variants LT - Low torque - with 27 BHP and HT with 30.5 BHP. The basic nature of these bikes can be made out from the names which suggest LT makes Low end Torque and HT makes High end . LT is a killer bike in the city while there is virtually no indian made bike which will keep up with a good HT on the high way.

Ok now there is not much difference between LT and HT in terms of BHP. But the LT makes power from low down say 2.5K and peaks out at 6K.... but HT in the city is horrible... till 4.5 K there is hardly any power compared to LT and from there on hardly any words can describe the rush... Its just mindblowing and revs out to 8.5 K with a scream and vicousness which is nothing less than lethal...

The bike which I would suggest to you would be a 'good' LT... LT is more of a fun bike especially in the city because of the low down explosion of the power.... now it will be a good ass kicking bike in the city... and any body can keep the LT in the power band... Two strokes are all about powerbands... you have to keep them singing in the power band or else forget about overtaking even a Scooty! Now LT would be ideal for college blasting.. Some people look down upon LT when compared to HT but the thing is that unless you just want top end and you ride mainly on the high ways LT will always score better! Now LT come into the power band so easily its much forgiving and easy to ride in the city than the HT! But for high ways there is noting, I repeat NOTHING that beats the HT! Two things score in favour of HT on the highway : 1) all out power : once you are in the power band for an HT there is nothing that will keep with you.... 2) cruising : HT can be a good cruiser also : when cruising at a 100 you will hardly be entering the powerband for an HT so its just keep you cruising for a long time without heating up the engine..

So please do see what kinda riding you will be doing and then go for a good bike... you will find many good bikes but please do take you time in finding a good RD...anyhelp please do ask there are lotsa crazy guys here who will help you out... hope you find a good RD...

i have heard u cant fiddle with the exhaust design of stroke bikes. Y so. I was wanting to fuse both exhausts into one...is it possible...Do u think the LC(RZ350) exhaust perform well as my friend has made them for his RD.he owns a HT,1983.wot kind of exhausts should i adopt if the stock exhausts arent workin proply.
is it wise 2 put a twin point cdi kit that r available for RD in mumbai.how is it compared to point system.how will it affect the performance and reliability
