Here is a few surprising facts about the Escorts/Rajdoot/Yamaha range of bikes.
1. Both Escorts and Yamaha started out with copies of the DKW RT125 two-stroke. (Cekop's SHL M11 for Escorts and YA-1 for Yamaha)
2. The RD350's predecessors were inspired by the German Adler MB250 two-stroke Twin
3. The RD350 in India NEVER came with YAMAHA Decals on the Tank . It was always RAJDOOT.
4. OE RD350 spares in India came in RAJDOOT packaging, never in YAMAHA packing
5. We know the RD came in LeT and HeT variants, but even the Rajdoot 175 came in a LETI (Low End Torque Improved) Portmap and head.
6. The "Rajdoot Super" had the same turn indicators and yoke/switches as the Rajdoot 350
7. The Rajdoot 350's patented clutch plates are guaranteed a life of minimum 50,000 kms (life long clutch)
8. The RX100, through it's 11 year history had only one SIGNIFICANT change : A conversion from 6v to 12v electricals
9. The last lot Rajdoot 175s (RD175) had the same catcon silencers as the last lot RX135 4-speed ones (with the chrome header pipes)
10. The RXZ 4-speed after chassis no 005466 have the following parts different from the earlier ones:
- Oil Pump
- Muffler
- Primary driven and drive
- Drive sprocket
- Tachometer Gear Drive
- Swingarm
- Driven Sprocket
- Chain
