Sorry to hear about your loss.Originally posted by frankpilli View PostSadly after a horrific accident in 1993 to my younger brother on my bike i parted with my RX. the bike is completely destroyed when he hit an electric pole at over 100 kph. it's with me for 6 most memorable years.
Since you had purchased RX100 & RD350 both 1st hand, can you please tell us what was the Top speed & Mileage of both these bikes in showroom condition. (Speedo Indicated figures are good enough for me, but i would like to know the top whack after run-in period)
Thanks.

RX-100: Its top speed in 110 Kph, and i stand on that statement, the Stock RX can never go above 110 kph (after run-in period)Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostSorry to hear about your loss.

The awesome Torque of the RX is, it can from 10 kph to 110 kph in fourth gear, no jerking or stalling of the engine. just with a twist of the wrist @ 10 kph in fourth gear, with in seconds it will reach 110 kph (we now call it the Roll-on acceleration) and Escorts claimed the 0 to 60 kph in 7.5 Sec(RX sales brochure) , but in 1987 the then top Auto mag of India "Car & Bike International" tested the RX and obtained the 0 to 60 kph in 5 Seconds with some track racer on the saddle. i had goose bumps while reading this test report of the RX back then. (still have the Mag with RX-100 road test)
RD-350: I didn't own the RD first-hand but booked it on the first day and waited for more than an year, and the booking was canceled due to some obvious reasons. (i now own a 1987 RD which i purchased in 2005 for a restoration project) But i have ridden some friend's RD's & crossed the 140 kph mark, but didn't get an opportunity to test the top whack, but the RD owners then used to say that the bike will touch 160 kph easily.(with highly un-reliable drum brakes
)

This totally depends on the jetting and the state of the jet needle damn thing can give a lot of headachesOriginally posted by frankpilli View PostThe awesome Torque of the RX is, it can from 10 kph to 110 kph in fourth gear, no jerking or stalling of the engine. just with a twist of the wrist @ 10 kph in fourth gear, with in seconds it will reach 110 kph (we now call it the Roll-on acceleration) and Escorts claimed the 0 to 60 kph in 7.5 Sec(RX sales brochure) , but in 1987 the then top Auto mag of India "Car & Bike International" tested the RX and obtained the 0 to 60 kph in 5 Seconds with some track racer on the saddle. i had goose bumps while reading this test report of the RX back then. And also it depends on the 'MADE IN JAPAN' goodies in the motor. His was the original Japan RX100 & i have no doubt in my mind that it could do 110Kmph with factory setting. As you know, its all the masala that goes in brings out the best taste (performance in our case) !!!!!!!Originally posted by dafc View PostThis totally depends on the jetting and the state of the jet needle damn thing can give a lot of headaches

Nitin, I'm planning to start an entirely new thread about the RX-100 & RD-350 in which i'll post all the scanned Road-test reports and info about them. i'm having the entire collection of Auto mags since 1986 (the year when the first ever Auto magazine (The Indian Auto, Sept 1986 was launched in India) so, just gimme some time. all your queries will be answered.Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostSir, could you please scan that article of that road test and upload it? Few weeks back me had a speed test on my RX100 and speedo touched 110kmph easily(Edappally - Vyttila bypass). Gave little more acceleration but I was not in a state to have a look at the speedo that time. The bike was showing thirst for more speed, I just felt so.The only mod I have done is NGK Iridium spark plugs.Originally posted by jd666 View Postwhat i remember is the owners manual specifying the top speed as 99 kmph. not 100, 99kmph. and thats what the rx100 would do, 100 kmph.
But its too dangerous to reach these speeds with drum brakes. I found drum brakes got nothing to do at these speeds.YAMAHA RX100 - 1986
