Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
1. I don't think you can open up the seat, so well..no storage under itOriginally posted by SuprajeettSome questions : Rx100
1. Where do we keep the papers if I don't want the tank bag? Any way to open up the seat?
2. Innocent question : Why do people like the 2 strokes so much when a lot of new bikes are technically advanced and dare I say, better? ( I'm not hating or a 4 stroke fanboy. Just want to know the reason, is it the sound?)
3. Uhm... That's it.
2. Simplicity and reliability is the forte of these motorcycles. I have been using mine extensively in the city and no breakdowns yet.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Thanks yo. 2nd point is very true. I use an Rx100 and it simply is awesome. I rode an fz25 just today and later rode the rx and really felt the eagerness of the rx to go forward and listen to me. The fz was awesome too but the light weight and hence the flickability of the rx truly made me love it.Originally posted by Throttlefreak View Post1. Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I am new to xbhp and Rx thing. So please excuse some of my silly questions I might ask in future. I am interested in restoring one of them and have sorted one that I may buy in a month or so.
1. Why everyone out there is asking for good mechanic for their repairs and restorations, why not Yamaha service centres. Don't they do it?
2. What all does it take to make a Rx 100 functionally new and reliable from scratch.. just functionally for now. (mainly engine stuff).
Thank you!

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
1.No, you can't open the seat, however, if you install a 135 lockable tool box, which goes behind the engine, you can easily store your documents and other small items like spare plugs etc in it.Originally posted by SuprajeettSome questions : Rx100

2. It's just nostalgia brother, 2 strokes will never be as reliable as modern 4t bikes. Plus, if you weigh anything more than 60kgs, you will never have the potential of fun on the bike, as 2 strokes seriously lack torque. These days 2 stroke spares are rare and expensive, that's another issue.HYPERTHRUST CLEARED AND COUNTING

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Service centre guys are trained in newer bikes, there are very few old mechs in service centres who know how to fix 2 strokes, you have to understand, it's been 15-16 years since 2 strokes were discontinued. Diagnosis of a 2 stroke takes experience.Originally posted by S_gtm View PostI am new to xbhp and Rx thing. So please excuse some of my silly questions I might ask in future. You can start by boring the block to the next os. Make sure the block isn't sleeved. A sleeved block is useless. Put a good connecting rod, put in good main bearings. Replace the clutch assy, or fix it, depends on condition, at very least change the plates. Make sure the oil pump are carburettor are 100% functional. Go for new reeds, clean the head to a mirror finish, polish the ports.HYPERTHRUST CLEARED AND COUNTING

Is block and piston and cylinder kit the same thing? If so then I think changing the cylinder kit is better as goetze cylinder kit is available for around 4k. Because I have heard that new cylinder kits last longer than rebored engines . Please clarify more on this.
Also by reeds, do you mean valves? Yes I am a noobie. What do think should this whole job cost? New cylinder kit and the jobs mentioned by you.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
hello guys ,
after a lot of time and effort i managed to get some upgrades for 1995 model Yamaha RX100 , and the mods i got are :
1. RXK cylinder kit (cylinder , head , piston)
2. RX 135 crank
3. RXK connecting rod
4. RXK carb
5. RXK cdi
6. RX 135 reed valves
i have added these original yamaha rx king and rx 135 parts and now i cant seem to get the tuning right. At first was the initial , when i shift to 1st gear and release clutch there was missing 9 like no petrol supply) then i re-tuned , now the initial seems fine but top end there is a lot of missing . what can be the issue ?

I think it's also logical to upgrade chain sprockets too.Originally posted by Arun V Dev View Posthello guys ,

First of all hats off to your restoration. Not many these days get their old legends back to glory in this decade.Originally posted by Arun V Dev View Posthello guys ,

Coming to your issue--
You need to explain what you meant by "then i re-tuned" and "top end there is a lot of missing". It would be better if you put some facts/numbers so we all can understand what's going on in your bike.
I can give you some tip here so it helps to narrate better.
Kick start
Compression
Petrol flow/any blocks in tube
Carb leak
Rubber joint leak
Is it quick in first few gears
Any jerking issue?
Always, when you describe the issue, try to put some factual data and full description of the issue and remedy sorted out. It helps members to understand your problem with more clarity and offer suggestions.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011
