Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I am sorry that I did not mention in the pervious post, it was one of the 'flower heads' and not an OE 100's head, on examining the 'flower head' and my own 135 ' bowl' where the spark plug seats, the 'flower head' had a smaller ' bowl' and to my mech it was for the rx 100.Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View Post

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Take a vernier and measure the flower head (supposedly from Thai/Indonesian). But I believe they are short of 58mm dia to seat on our 135.Originally posted by Manan View PostI am sorry that I did not mention in the pervious post, it was one of the 'flower heads' and not an OE 100's head, on examining the 'flower head' and my own 135 ' bowl' where the spark plug seats, the 'flower head' had a smaller ' bowl' and to my mech it was for the rx 100.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Hello everyone!
I have a 1997 Yamaha RXG
My problem is a leaky carburettor even after fixing with new gasket and o-rings
I didn't have a vernier caliper to measure the float height so, I set it using a metal scale/ruler
Experts please advice tips on rebuilding the carb so that it won't leak again.
Thank you!Keep the blue smoke alive!

I think its better to go for a brand new float. Get a carb reubild kit. Replace the float and the float needle also. Mine had a different float needle so it was leaking all the time.
Float is the same for 100,135 so whichever you get should be fine!

Right. I guess I have to search for NOS ones.Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostHi there!

The rebuild kits that we get are from Natco and they're crap.
But thanks! I'll look for them!Keep the blue smoke alive!

Okay this float needle you get seperately. Genuine ones. If you are on instagram, there are a lot of online stores which sell these!Originally posted by Bratty Biker View PostRight. I guess I have to search for NOS ones.

[emoji3514]Guys i need help [emoji3514]
I own a rx100(12v), the headlight bulb 12v 35/35 is getting blown everytime in high rpm. Showed to mechanic he changed the RR unit (MiNDA-12v).
Thought the issue will get solved, but it still has,the headlight bulb is getting blown up again and again. The mechanic also got no idea.
What may be the reason?.
And one thing.. my bike got only the headlight bulb. no other lights(indicators, taillight, console lights) in the bike.
Thank U.
If u rx owners got any kind of whatsapp group then do add me. It will be helpfull for me.Last edited by mayurgogoi96; 05-17-2020, 10:07 PM.

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Did you check the battery charging voltage? Start the bike and check the voltage across the battery while the engine is running. Should be around 13.2v. Hold the throttle half open and check the voltage again. It should not go beyond 14.5v if it goes, again your rr unit is faulty!Originally posted by mayurgogoi96 View Post[emoji3514]Guys i need help [emoji3514]

If you are changing the RR unit, make sure you go for the genuine yamaha one. Swiss make is available for around 150 bucks and its no good. OE one should cost around 500.

i checked the charging voltage in battery points. it was not reaching 12v in high rpms.. even after installing the new RR unit from MindaOriginally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostDid you check the battery charging voltage? Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Just check your battery is charged properly. When the engine is not running, battery voltage should be 12v atleast.Originally posted by mayurgogoi96 View Posti checked the charging voltage in battery points. it was not reaching 12v in high rpms.. even after installing the new RR unit from Minda
However i think you need to get your coil checked. Get the magnet and the stator plate out, take the stator to an auto electrician and get it checked. Also take the magnet with you and tell them to recharge it.

Could anyone please advise the benefits (performance-wise) of a cat-con 5-speed silencer over a standard 4-speed silencer?
I own a 97' RXG with a standard 4-speed silencer. My mechanic offered to sell me a 5-speed cat-con silencer. I even got it fitted on my bike yesterday and did a 200km trial run with it. The cat-con silencer is surely more silent, but that's not very important to me right now.
What I need to understand is- how is the performance affected?
Thanks in advance.

Put back the standard 4-speed chrome exhaust, it's less restrictive and much lighter. The Cat-Con is there to reduce emissions & noise, not for increasing performance. As the Cat-Con is much more restrictive on the flow of exhaust gasses & much heavier (over 2x the weight compared to the stock exhaust), it is only making your bike slower while the engine has to work harder. So you can give back the Cat-con to your mechanic. If you want to reduce the sound of the chrome exhaust, just wrap some glasswool on the flute.Originally posted by srikant.c View PostCould anyone please advise the benefits (performance-wise) of a cat-con 5-speed silencer over a standard 4-speed silencer?

Apart from the usual reasons like, "Hai Pikkup saar, Sailant Killar saar.Pls tek it"
Your mechanic might convince this, if he really wants to get rid of it :
Another option is what some Kerala guys do with Cat,
They will open it up, remove everything inside, fabricate some cones, wield them together (like this =<>=,) put it inside the exhaust, wield it back up, re-paint it and call it an "Open CAT" , just their synonym of an inbuilt expansion chamber (like the one you find on a TVS-Suzuki Shogun before it got the Cat-Con), so the exhaust acts as a decoy for cops to not detect a modded exhaust. End result is a very loud exhaust note and a potentially harmful job as the chambers are not properly calculated, but just done for the sound aspect, you can expect it to either not push back in the escaping AF mixture at all, defying it's true purpose or even worse, pushing both the AF mixture and the burnt exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber, which is obviously bad, both situations arise as they are not tuned properly as per the proper . The worst thing is that powerband becomes very narrow and concentrated at a certain RPM, so the bike might become unusable at low RPM inside in everyday city traffic.
Hope it helps

What is more important is 'what you experienced in the last 200km drive?'Originally posted by srikant.c View Postdid a 200km trial run with it. The cat-con silencer is surely more silent, but that's not very important to me right now.
If you could find some difference and you like it, go for it or if you couldn't find any difference just ignore.
No amount of on-paper explanation could help better than a physical trial.
