Rx-100 does take quite a lot of effort in climbind steep gradients, but yours bike engine died that shows either the tuning is too lean, or your clutch plates have gone, what was the condition of plug when your bike engine stopped completely.

So i have two expansion chambers by now...both custom made. But damn they are loud.
Plonking these on 4speeds they are timid comparatively. As far as my thinking goes this may be due to the big exhaust ports on 5speed and the cylinder block in in itself.

Another thing is that enjoying riding the 5speed is at high rpms...as it has got the sweet spot high up the rpms and thats where it goes mad. But while doing those high rpms those chambers scream a lot and thus it sounds a little unmannered. I dont feel content.

Help i require is if i have to live with this or there are chambers available or and mods i can do which are less in audible terms, which will make it a little less noisy.

                    • Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series

May someone plz tell me the procedure for checking the electrical system of rx whether running on 12v or 6v.

I had tried once with multimeter and end up in the confusion.
I had checked battery terminals when bike engine off it reads 11.7 v . checked headlamp voltage when bike was in idling state didnt show voltage.

My question is what is the correct procedure to decide the voltage on which bike is running.??

Mine is 1995 manufactured and 1996 delivered model of rx 100.

Pls throw some light on my issue.
                      Regards

                      • ^yours is 1995-6 batch RX100 which came with 12v electrical. If you remove the tank on your right side check there will be RR unit bolted. If you can either take a closer pic or read the spec inked will determine if it is 6 or 12v. Off course the coil and magnet differs. Although I'm not good at electrical, usually the output taken from the RR unit will be one to know exact figures of electrical.

Procedure to change or convert from 6v to 12v are:-

                        1. Coil plate drum of either last batch of RX100.
                        Or
                        2. Change the coil plate and drum to RX135. But this would require a wiring harness change too of RX135 as the CDI and coil plate connectors won't be compatible to RX100 wiring harness.

Do the above and enjoy the ride.

What will be the approx cost for the conversion from 6v to 12 v ?

                            • ^Used coil plate drum of RX135 should costs anything between 500-1500 from junkyard or seconds market. Plus 500 for new rx135 wiring kit.
