Introduction
-------------------------
"YAMAHA RX"-
Just like a 2 stroke's power to weight ratio, these 2 mere words used to literally make me crazy.Ever since my cousin took me on a ride on his Cherry Red RX100,i was in love. And that very love i've carried for almost 10 years. So when it was time for myself to get a bike i was sure,it would only be a 2 stroke(I'm not too much into 4 "j(str)okes") and hopefully a RX100.
My parents were against me buying a second hand bike, because of all the hassles associated with it(Papers,Restoration etc).It took a lot of time and energy(Always making the RX's exhast note through my mouth,Printing and pasting RX's old ads all over the place and even collecting an RX100 monogram and keeping it under my pillow) to convince them to get me an RX.
And so my hunt began.I myself was a complete beginner in biking and let alone 2 strokes,i knew nothing. But xBhp,all knowledgable people here,The internet and my best friend helped me to get started.I slowly began browsing the threads, asked mechanics, also other RX owners on what to look out for when buying one.And hence began to seriously look for bikes in my area through contacts and through some online classifieds.
I was looking for-
1.Engine-Should be decent, as i didn't prefer to work on the engine while restoring it.
2.Cosmetics-I was not too particular on having amazing cosmetics as i myself wanted to go through a restoration process and was keen on learning
3.Papers-The most important aspect, the papers had to be perfect.

After a few days,a neighbor of mine who is actually a vehicle dealer, told me there was a 1993 RX100 for sale and he was quoting 28k for the same,i checked out the bike and the engine was okay and the cosmetics too was good, but sadly the papers were long overdue and the Re-test was on Dec 13'.So i had to actually freshen it up and make the paperwork right in just 1 and a half month. So dropped the idea then and there.
A few days later, while browsing an online classified, saw an ad.The place was near and familiar too.So i called up a close friend of mine who lives close to the address mentioned in the ad to enquire and he tells me the vehicle up for sale belongs to his uncle!!!!!! Could ask him all about the bike before even calling the owner!!
And then on 7th Oct 2013,my dad,my best friend and myself went there and checked out the ride,my friend took a test ride and told me it was good, the gearshifts were smooth and it handled properly and most importantly,it ran the way an RX should.
We were happy and my dad gave him a token of advance.Picked up my baby on the 10th of October,2013.

The days!
----------------
I was having the time of my life on my childhood dream, which was now a reality..was really happy and glad I could have the yesteryear beauty our previous generation enjoyed.I was busy with my exams but still managed to clock a 1200 kms after the acquisition.Literally ate and slept on the bike.I was not too keen on restoring it in 2013 so used it maximum.
Also met up with “rxdude”-Whom we all know, his project “Project RX135 factory rollout” is the best restoration thread I’ve seen yet of a stock RX135 at xBhp(Not RX100).He gave me all the necessary information about what it takes to restore an RX.He was and is kind enough to call me up and ask me about the progress(Even as he is out of the country). He sure is one hell of a passionate 2 stroker,There are very few people I personally know, who has inside-out knowledge of one’s own bike.
Cheers to xBhp and all the passionate and knowledgeable bikers here!!.There is surely nothing like xBhp and the fellowship all of us share.
All was good,until----
The Crash!
------------------
On December 24th,2013.While I was returning home from a nearby place,I had a crash.I was not hurt but the bike took the force of the impact. The right fork was badly bent.I don’t have a picture with myself to show you the damage but it was pretty evident.I had difficulty handling it.So after a lot of contemplation and thought I decided to restore it cosmetically as soon as I could.
Visited a nearby mechanic, got to know him and found him good enough to have faith in.
Plans
---------
1.Engine-Nothing to be done
2.Painting of Fuel tank,Side shields-Same blue shade(May require replacement),Chasis,Swingarm,Chain guard and all possible parts.
3.Chrome plating-Exhaust,Shocks,Rear fender(Front,requires replacement)
4.Replace-Tyres,Seat assy,Lock set,blinkers,Mirrors,Handlebar grips,Footrest,Rear carrier and more
5.Install disk brakes(Gladiator disk assy)
6.EDIT-Replace wiring kit.(As its running 6V electricals still).
So here I am,requesting the help of the respected friends at xBhp to help keep my beauty in shape.
P.S--I'm just a normal 18 year old.My friends prefer bikes which are like moving computers, distance to empty,ABS,Amazing looks etc.People call me crazy to even buy a 25 year old bike and devote the amount of time and vitamin-M to restore it.My friends tell me it is so much easier to buy a new bike with a 390 or 500 cc displacement and a million horsepower. But these plastic ponies, don't impress me.I am impressed not when a bike with 3 figure displacement and stylish looks fail to make a statement but i when a 25 year old,98cc bike with bare-minimum electronics make me go wow!-The chrome, the pinstrips and the exhaust note!.WOW!
"You've seen the crowd, now see the leader"-25 years on!-ESCORTS YAMAHA RX.
Please forgive me if i've made any mistakes in this post.I'll definitely try to improve my knowledge.
NOTE:I have decided to go for restoration now and will be replacing not just the bare minimum parts, but most parts as i don't plan to work on the bike anytime soon as i'll be out of station for sometime after my 12th std results. And aesthetics play a big role for me,so i'm restoring it in the best possible way i can.

But I am eager to know if there was any damage to the RH pilot lamp assembly and the crashguard. The butterfly crashguard in the pictures is beautiful and a rarity nowadays. What we get now (mostly) is the much smaller version of it. Please do not skimp on replacing fork tubes though. If it is bent, don't bother repairing it.
thats too close bro !!
