Bibhu, wow! nice to see the blue bird there. Has the tank already got thin stripes like 100 or it's my bad sight? Also, go for the chrome front fender, will look classic. Get the square mirrors of RXZ (if available) or KB100. Will go well with the indicators, headlight shape scheme. Need to see more of your bike please..

This is the tank scheme. The fendor wld be from a kb100, so would be the mirrors.

Yes. The plate is buffed in true jap fashion. Even the rx100s in some of the ads have all buffed parts. Non painted. Fender would be from a kb100. carrier is an old one sitting in a shop that has been chromed. Not sure of the brand.

Buff isnt supposed to shine for long like chrome. You can still polish it to a good smooth finish by hand. Re-buffing would cause the metal to crack.

Yes tank is painted.

Its general spray paint. Autolux or something. Base coat, 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of laquer. Shade is maruti paradise blue.

In sunlight its a bit lighter. The place where the bike is standing its pretty low in light. So it seems that way.

The rx will retire my p220 from active duty as my daily commuter. So I want to make sure that everything is 100% before she enters service.

No dispute between rx and 220. Its just a fact that the rx is better in city traffic than the 220. Ofcourse the 220 will remain for distances over 50kms.

My bikes in order of affection: 1985 yamaha rd350, 1991 Yamaha rx, 2001 Bajaj pulsar 180, 2010 bajaj pulsar 220. Soon to come..... The BOSS.

Yes the rx can be used on highways. But with my build and weight the 220 is more comfortable for me on longer journeys.
Thank you for the praise. But I am hardly worth it. Keep hunting. You will find an rx somewhere.

I will say a few things about pulsars. Yes, they are not as smooth as hondas, but I dont like bikes to be that smooth. They feel like an appliance then, not a motorcycle.
However, bajaj has come a long way since the early 2000s in term of smoothness and finish of bikes.

Regarding discontinued models, you would still find sapres for discontinued bajaj models. But try to find spares for even existing models of other brands. You will realise how good the bajaj spares network is.

As far as reliability is concerned, my 180 ran for 8 years and 1,60,000 kms before i got the 220. The 220 has done 75,000+ kms in 4 years. So you do the math. All motorcycles have different kind of maintainance needs. Hondas need less but are less fun as well. I am happy with my pulsars. Infact, I am yet to see a bike that can overally compete in terms of practicality with a p220. But these are my thoughts ofcourse.

Pulsars have become smoother than their early days. If you wish to buy one I suggest wait till the new 150ns is launched. Engine would be better than the existing one.
