One of the reasons they shut down was coz of the butt-kicking they got from the Japanese bikes... They had them beaten hands down in terms of comfort as well as economy (read value for money) ... BUT, the biggest reason for the shutdown was mismanagement... There was a rift in the family, the brothers separated, handing over the company to, I THINK the brother-in-law, who refused to 'upgrade' the bikes, and wanted to continue selling the age-old Jawa-class machines... MANY MANY suggestions were put forward, to ensure that the company was able to stand its ground in the wake of the Jap-attack, but sheer arrogance led to the total loss of their market... Couple that with many dead investments, and you had a company heading for bankruptcy!!!

One of the reason y the company stopped apart from the ones mentioned by karthi cud be the downfall of 2 strokies & obviously the RD

Yezdi is quiet cheap in Calcutta . You can get one for 2000 to 4000, in running condition. But you will not find many Yezdi s there, as only a handful r remaining

              hmmm....
a lot of devil tamers around eh ???
why devil tamers..???? well.. yezdi.. means "a group of ppl who worship the Devil"...or in simplier terms...a satanist.

A lil introduction from my side then.... i am a true Yezdi... not ownly own a Yezdi cl2 (1985) but a satanist too. [...and i dont drink blood for breakfast or eat bats for evening snacks!!]

I am 21yrz ol..from calcutta...in Pune for my collegz..and a member of the Jawa and Yezdi Club of India (pune).

a lot of ppl asking about auto clutch and yezdi modificationz here....hmm...
okie... well.. i cant explain much in technical terms.. but can give u some info about it.

Auto cluth...how u use it=> i wud prefer u shift on your first gear usin da clutch manually...then.. as your bike rolls own to a speed of 15-20kph,just press down your gear/starter lever for the 2nd gear ..dont havto pull on your clutch lever manually... u can guide it down to da 4th gear..."araamsey".
Shifting gears up...hmm..well...am a lil panicky about dem....if yor bikez not in a nice tuned up state...i wud say..dont try dem at da very 1st go.
so u can change gears....even if u dont have your clutch wire conked up.. for da funz sake...of holdin a fag on yor left hand.. and changin gearz casually while lookin at dat babe in a petty ol newage "super" bike ..which u gonna smoke down soon.

And who said....yezdi'z times gone off.... i take on any 100cc bikes...includin rx100z and rx135z and pulsar 150z and bullet 350z down with my twin pipe monster....just smoke dem down !!

Yep..bikes in cal are way cheaper...yezdis and rd350z...both.

wud c ya guyz soon around.....

yep..i saw a coupple of Yezdiz with expansion chamber pipez.....one in a classic..the other a roadking.
                          And i rode them too.
They aint of any use at all....
It doesnot increase your top-end or the initial...and the change in sound isnt good either....(accordin to me).
Technically also...the yezdiz dont have a high rpm as in compare to an rx or kb125.So the effect you get out of a expansion pipe added rx or kb...you ll never get that out of your yezdi
If any body wantz to take on xpansion chambers in deir yezdis...in pune..well derez a shop in Nanapeth, and i guess they charge 1500bux for the silencer make up.(forgot if its 1500 for a pair or single).
Well...even i thought of making up changes with da silencer pipes...but... adding an xpansion wasnt dat good of a choice.
If u guyz actually have to make your silencerz look a lil more "intresting"...i have a couple of ideas...but....hey...am kinda giving my thoughtz away..and might just not get any recognition for it.
Well..if anybody in around Pune wants to make his/her yezdi get a proper cruiser modification...hmmm...contact me up... i have spent loadz of time thinking about that field and have loads of models on my mind.
Again....guyz,dont go for a xpansion for the yezdi..!!
i dont like the drugs but the drugs like me....

I've seen a roadking here in Hyderabad with expansion chambers. I think they were home made cuz the fit & finish was terrible! To boot, it sounded like a two stroke Bajaj Autorickshaw with it's muffler cut off (you know - the irritatingly loud ones)

So PLEASE dont embarass yourself by fitting expansion chambers!

On another note, I gotta give my 91 Roadking for servicing. The rear sprocket's shot and the mileage is around 12-14 kmpl! Pickup aint that good too!

So anybody here ride the Twin cylinder Yezdi 350? I hear it's acceleration is shattering!(not in the league of the RD350 though).

fitting an expansion chamber in any 2 stroke will be loud and irritating(for some )

hafee u getting 12-14km/l on a stock bike some problem should be there unless u have ported and modified it.
                              some tips for u
1)get ur carburettor serviced and tuned( check float )
2)check if ur losing fuel due to worn out hoses
3)when u fix back the carb make sure its sealed with the barrel properly i.e. avoid any airleaks
                              4)spark plug..check it
5)clean ur air filter box . and after cleaning the wire mesh soak it in a mixture or petrol and oil
6)brakes service it to prevent unnecessary drag
7)adjust ur chain properly after u change ur sproket( go for orginal sproket cost around 500-600 bucks there are lots of bad duplicates)
                              8)oil all cables
9)check ur timing if its points ..CDI version should not give any problems
10)finaly if its time for a rebore u think go for it or just change the piston rings and see if it improves things
                              11) all minor things u can do it ur self on a sunday if u have tools.
u should get a mileage ranging from 24-32 if u ride in the range of between 40-90 km/h on a well
                              maintained roadking
hope my suggestion help this is all from experiance of owning a roadie for 3 year..n still loving it

                                Hafeexius,
                                Greetings.
I was pretty much infatuated with Roadkings and Jawas.. and then I bought a Yezdi 350 twin. Man.. its awesome!. Simply awesome. 2200 rpm, 4th gear.. and you will be touching a speed of 65 to 65 kmph. I think it will be able to do wheelies even in 3rd gear. I haven't triend it though.

God on a harley davidson...by any chance were you a MIRC addict?
                                cheers
I do not need a $ex partner, my bike screws me enuf!
