Incomparable. Royal enfield is new, you get all the parts in the market.
Yezdi - the parts have to be searched,

RE maintenance is cheaper both in terms or spares and time invested in searching for parts. You may want to use parts from other bikes, but the Yezdi should also mate with it, bro. It is as fuel efficient as a RE, maybe slightly better.

        Dear All,

I'm a newbie to xBhp and i'm glad to be a part of xBhp.

couple of days back i came across a 1980 Classic D250, which is in a decent shape. Only issue is that - the carburetor is leaking petrol. I need your advice on getting this corrected (any DIY's till I get some time to get this to a mechanic).

        Thanks in advance

        -Regards,

If it's a jikov then retain the carb for now and restore it properly later. Tuning and reatoring jikov can be a pain but worth every second spent. If you want a headache free carb then go for pacco with 95 jets you will be fine.

Yes Sir, its a Jikov. I will go by your advice and get a Pacco; will retain Jikov and get it tuned-up once I find a competent mechanic.-Regards,Sachin

The PACCO P43 (Looks like Jikov) is rarely available in shops. People might try to sell it for a premium as well. Try getting in touch with PACCO itself and they may help you with a dealer near your location where they can make it available to you.

The P47Y doesn't have such availability issues (not as much as P43). I have purchased one, a month back. (Mumbai)

If it is the float chamber of your Jikov that is the source of the leak and no other issue is present with it, consider using M-seal to stop the leak. It works. Finding people to do the welding is tough.

All the best.Click image for larger version

                Thanks @ rk1685.

Here's the pic of my bike.

It isn't in pristine state [cosmetically]. Carb leak has been fixed by a local mechanic couple of days back albeit in my absence. I'm thinking of visiting Shivajinagar [Bangalore] this weekend to scout for a Pacco P43/47Y.

would be very much grateful if any of you could advise me with respect to the parts that have to be stocked-up to keep this classic running for many years to come.

                Thanks in advance

                Cheers

Hi. It looks good atleast on this picture. A good diesel wash and waxing it should make it look better. I don't know about which parts one would definitely need to stock up on, as everything can at some point need replacement.

The running parts like clutch plates, front fork oil seal holders, steering cone sets, brake liners and its rivets should generally be available, but keeping one set spare with me is something I do.
Storing all the parts consumes a lot of space.

It would have been helpful to see a picture of your carburettor. I purchased my carburettor for less than MRP from a Pacco dealer, remember that don't pay more than MRP.

A word of caution based on the bike picture you have sent, I wouldn't leave it alone with a mechanic I don't trust.

                    A) Front Mudguard [Old - Non Chromed version, similar to but retarded one than Jawa's]
                    B) Head light nacelle
                    C) Nail type ignition switch.

any suggestions and advises are welcome.

                        Srini sir,

I had already been to GEE BEE, but no luck. They seem to have not stocked-up any body parts of Classic D250 [They have got handle bar for Jawa 250-353]. Lately, found one guy on Internet, who's supposedly having front mudguard of classic but he's quoting Rs 2800+ for it.

How about Veedol HDB50 oil (as premix),it meets SAE50 as per the litreture available online. Did any of you try it ?

                        Cheers..

                            Dear Friends,

I'm unable to find any literature elucidating the difference between the 'B', 'C' and 'D' 250 variants of Yezdi engines. Can someone help me out in understanding the difference between these variants ? and do JAWA & Yezdi Classic share any mechanical parts in common (like clutch plates, brake shoes etc).

                            Thanks in advance
