    Dear All,

Srini, great to have a good fan in the community.
anyways myseld done few rallies on this beast and still owns couple of them and non stock (modified) one can clock 140 - 145 easily with an amazing inital as well, and you can refer it close to an rd in all means as we had proven it for few times.

Please dont ever compare RK with pulsar etc, and these are something could the classic models can rip.

attached with the pic of mine..........

i can help with the any queries related to teh performance of RK...

          Arun,

Yours must be running in one cylinder (175cc)

Dude, would be great if you can clarify my statement with someone like Nanjappas or somendar in Mysore or canbe with anyone did open rallies in modified RK.

I will take you for a spin in my RK, when i am back in town

            • A stock RK can do 120. So, IMHO, a properly ported-chambered RK can do 140-145 with some sprocketing changes. I have ridden a couple of RKs, here in Bangalore with crazy pick up. But beating an RD350? I don't know. I have experienced more pull(read scary) on a stock well-maintained RD-LT than on the modded RKs. If a slightly modded RK can beat an RD, I'l be very happy. I'm in the market for an RK later this year

              • Hi,

didnt mean that RK can beat RD in any means and in terms of the the torque & Raw delivery is some what comparitive to an LT RD.

My team had done few benchmarkings in our good times...

dont think RD is as good as RK for negotiating corners and if you are good in traffics can make the life of RD miserable.

Arun as you said few mods in Cylinder, Carb & Airfilter will increase the bhp to 22, but expansion chambers wont help though as we have tried!

Mine touches 110 in 3rd gear and can do awesome wheelies in 2nd gear

Well i am an proud owner of RD as well.

For this aspect of riding, RD stood tall for all these years.. dude, its one of the best handeling street-bikes the world has ever seen.. just beacuse of its frame.. it was a direct copy of the production road-racing TZs of the classic 70s.. the only difference was in the weight.. the TZ frames were much lighter.. again on the suspension aspect too, RD350 was the best among Indian bikes.. shock absorbers from Kayaba, Japan .. you might feel that its on the firmer side. thats just beacuse, it was made for track-racing..

Sorry dude, im not in for a word-fight.. but wanted to clarify this aspect..

N.B Never trust speedos of old bikes like RD & RK.. always use a sigma

Nowadays, added a brand new Fury disc up front too.. sorted out all the braking issues which were lacking in the Indian version of the RD350B

                        • My take is that comparisons with RD is a bit exaggerated. I know that ZDI's were used for races at Sholavaram et al - against RD's no less, but having ridden a crap RD - stock and a beautifully maintained stock RK - they are a world apart.

Stock setup - no comparison. Modded RK ? I still thank the RD will not be troubled. RD revs up a lot quicker, revs higher and handles much much better on a track than a ZDI IMHO.

Anyway I think comparison is not fair here.

I also have my doubts about modding the RK into a "beast". One of the most likeable things about the RK is its unique engine characteristics. Its a bit lazy to begin with but with peak power and torque coming in before 5K RPM... things get going quickly.

And the 2.43KGm torque - its all about torque IMO. Pointless in revving this bike like a RX or a RD. Its got superb torque in the lower revband and mid band (in what is already a small rev band ).

So I think when you ride a RK - take out those mufflers, get the silencers cleaned; fourth gear at 50kph and open the throttle - you will get an idea as to what this engine is about - Torque. Let her clear her throat a bit...she pulls even better.

Not a track tool, not a rev-happy banshee machine but a throwback to a different era ....

                          • Hi,

sorry that i'm not in to word fight as well...
dude do you expect me to rely on the stock speedo and claim the top speed?
on rallies we use 0 error metres and do Datron Corevit EEP-3 laser test gear for precised recording.
riding styles and perfection varies from driver perspective and RK has a chassis derived fron the proven track records of CZ speed way bikes.

Myself done 215 on RD HT modified......
