Your lay shaft and a 17teeth meshing gear will have worn out. Its a very common occurence in Yezdis and Jawas. What do you mean by 'Yezdi Jawa'? Do you have a Jawa or a Yezdi model B? They share the same gears shafts and gears. The later Yezdis have other gearbox parts.
Be sure to get the original and unused parts. There are lots of worn out (difficult to recognise) and duplicate parts for the gearbox that just wont work.

And by the way, if you want to know the model of your motorcycle, which you really should know, check the left side on the engine case. You will find a number that is a letter followed by '250'. For example,B250, C250, etc. The following are just engine serial numbers. That letter will let you know.

Well i am an proud owner of RD as well.
i am also a fan of Yezdi and would like to know what kind of mods will help me attain a 110 on 3rd gear and wheelies in 2nd. can you help me with it . i also want to have a decent top speed, mine give 112+ right now. i have CL-2, CB Point based system. reply awaited.

As one can see the RK was no match for the RD in terms of speed or acceleration as it was a good 22 secs slower per lap!! The RD was in a different league.
Although the RK and RX had similar top speeds, the RX handled better and was much faster in the corners and you could brake much later due to its lighter weight (20-25 kgs lighter than RK in race trim). Hence the better lap time.
Best lap time RD 250 (ridden with out any effort) 1 min 42 secs.
The single cylinders were no match for a twin.
nice to read all these things. Things tht u mentioned for an RK, does it apply to other Yezdi models as well ? I have a Yezdi CL-2 250cc and wish to increase the initials and top speed. wht do i have to do for it ? very sorry to ask u a stupid question but wht are expansion chambers ? plz reply, preferably on [email protected]

@ Srini : Bro need a little information about the Yezdi twin man...Honestly I have no clue about Yezdi twins...But I was told that there was a Yezdi twin 350 bike which was as powerful as the RD350. I tried googling it but couldn't find any info...so throw a little light on this please!!

okay there is a yezdi 350 twin,but i am not sure if its equal to RD350, rd's had 2 cards right? but the y350 only one carb.
It was released in 1987, the Jawa 350 twin was released in early 1950's. There is one friend in hyde who still has it. Its a single owner and in awesome shape.
Yezdi 350:
Engine Tech --> Single carb, Piston Port induction, very basic transfer ports layout.
RD350:
Engine Tech --> Dual carbs, reed valve induction, four transfers in each cylinder with an additional boost port.

need some help guys i have a yezdi 250 classic 82 model which hasnt been started in years ! need to restore it ! any idea how i can do this ? may be a good mechanic reference ?? in bangalore if you guys know would be helpful thankssigpic

@ Srini : yeah Im in chennai..Ive met you before..Dont know if you remember me though...this was during the first meet of 2009 in besant nagar. I was the guy running a 180 converted to 200 with a tectrac can
