hey guyz how can we improve the braking of yezdi's???
can v change its 160mm front drums to disc..which one??pulsar discs??
and wat abt rear drums... can it be fitted wit better rear brakes[stock 160mm]??? which one???

Some people put the RD front suspension onto a Yezdi with some mods to the front drum and axle. I am sure that some "jugaad" can be done to try and fix discs .... but you need to get hold of a handy mech for that.

My neverending love with motorbikes of all era's led me to buy a roadking last year. Unfortunately, the engine seized and I wasn't able to get her repaired quickly. Gradually I lost interest and so I parted with her for a paltry sum compared to the price I paid for it. I regret that deeply :|

A few weeks back I started to ponder over this mistake and I had an irresitable urge to buy back the bike from the person to whom I had sold it to - my trusty mechanic near the erstwhile Shanthi Talkies. Unfortunately, he had in turn sold it to someone else and I wasn't able to track down the bike. A good good bike lost. Needlessly.

The logical solution was to go to Mysore (I don't think its an exaggeration to call it the mecca of Yezdi's) and pick a needle in a haystack - figuratively speaking. Because, while there are plenty of Roadkings in Mysore, the problem is that most of them have their chassis/engine numbers fiddled with and the papers are a mess. And time was a factor. I couldn't afford to spend much time on a weekend this time round.

So back I went to the same old mechanic and he dug up this 1996(CDI of course..) Yezdi Roadking from another customer of his :









It was a costly affair but then I didn't have much of a choice in my position. All said and done, the bike has a decent engine. It doesn't have the raw power that my old bike had but its a mature engine - 1st rebore done - but still zippy and the pipes are good. The bike badly needs a paint job and all other accessories like mirrors,battery(ya for a yezdi its an accessory!),indicators et al. About 3.5K worth work is due on the bike. I will get it all done from Monday.

For now - its back to blasting down empty roads without mufflers on this classic. Now I am thinking of a name for this. I dont want a female name :P ...

100% agree with this. but am not able to get a decent one from past 6 months.
there are lot of screwed up RK's doing rounds in mysore.
i had got one a month ago, but the engine got seized in few days after the purcahse. and i believe it was the 3rd time. so gave it back to the mech.
still in hunt for the beast!

Chassis "touch-up"



This is a pic from Friday. The tank and the sidepanels were not ready yet. And with the weather being so miserable, the bike wont be ready before Monday.

I have not got it repainted - its just a "touch-up". Likewise for the tank and the sidepanels.

I have pretty much got all the parts in hand, except for the Tank monograms(YEZDI). Any ideas ?

where do you get ur bike serviced/repair?
BTW today i saw an yezdi mech in a gully next to caritor near natkalappa circle.
i havent seen many, i have heard, some mech's are there in and around jayanagar who are still into yezdi's?
