I got a Yezdi Model B restored last week... New bore, piston, flywheel, gears... well, everything on the bike is new, except the frame and the engine body... In the process of running it in now... Im limited to 60kmph for 2000 kms, but she feels POWERFUL! Cant wait to open her up...

The deluxe silencers you guys are talking about, I've heard that they are not very good for the roadking... apparently, they cause a slight drop in power... I dunno how far its true, but Id investigate... Anyways, I prefer the cigar smokers over the other set...

Hey Srini, the auto-clutch... any idea if it was available on the Model B too??? And exactly how does one 'use' it??? Coz, I dont think its a simple matter of ignoring the clutch and shifting gears... or is it???

      hello all,

karthik, the auto-clutch feature is on all jawa's and yezdi's, right from the first turn-key tank model, if you are unable to use the AC, just open you case for minor adjustments to the lever, then here you go vrrrrrrrroooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmm with auto-clutch.

guys do check out www.projectjawa.com, this is an another official site maintained by the company guys -- you could have a look of mine and srini's profiles in it..

      happy riding

hi harish... thanks for the info... actually, I have NO idea how to use the auto-clutch... Im assuming there is some method of using it... like, maybe pushing the kicker in for a split second or something like that... I dont want to just try shifting without the clutch, and without knowing how AC works...

Ken if i remember correctly( it was mentione by some yezdi guy here) that it allows a person to ride the bike efortlessly for some 20-30 kms if the clutch wire is broken or detached

the auto-clutch feature is present in all yezdi's and jawa's, if the clutch wire goes for a six, the rider could ride the bike for n-number of kms, the maximum kms we did without the cable was 185 kms, without any hurdle, the working of the AC is

the kicker and the gear lever for yezdi and jawa are same, the lever acts as a clutch in case the clutch cable is cut, the lever should be pressed gently for swift changing of gears without the cable, the lever is directly connected to the gear box, hence the yezdi has 3 neutrals, in between all the 4 gears, this is another wonder, though we are caught in heavy traffic, the AC and 3 neutrals help us to ride the bike at ease, initial 5-10 kms we might have probs, but once we get the feel, no one to stop us for a swift ride. . . . . ken i assumed i have expalined the feature, its better to have a look of the system -- would be very much user friendly. . . .

So, ur saying the AC is as simple as just shifting gears??? Coz we tried that on a friend's bike sometime back, and it made a LOT of noise... So, we thougt there must be some 'procedure' to it...

Oh, and the clutch itself, my bike, when I leave it on the main stand, and sli into first gear, the wheel starts to spin, even with the clutch lever fully depressed... And not just a little spin, PLENTY... Is that normal, or do I need to get my clutch adjusted???

                    hi karthik,

AC is less complicated, to the best of my knowledge you need to get you clutch adjusted, just a minor adjustment, would allow the AC working swiftly in your bike, btw karthik which place are you put up?? i am in chennai :-)

Thanks for the info... Will go see my mech bout adjusting the clutch... and also changing the pole shaft/shift or something, to reduce the throw of the gears... Right now, I need to LIFT my whole leg (ok the foot, really... ) to shift gears!!!

Im at Mysore... Had no plans of getting a Yezdi, this one actually kinda 'fell' into my lap!!! I heard the factory was clearing their stocks, wanted to pick up a 350... The guys at the factory asked for 17k, and finally agreed to let us have it for 16k ... this was a bike, fully assembled and ready to be ridden outta the factory... Then, I spoke to various ppl, ppl who used to be attached to the factory when it was still running, and they said the 350 wasn't a very good buy, and if I intended to use the bike even marginally regularly, I should go for one of the 250s... Then I considered buying a 350 engine and fitting it on a 250 chassis, when somebody I know gave me his old Model B... It had been gathering dust for the last 5 years... So, instead of getting the engine and doing a patch-work job, I bought spares worth 12k, paying about 4k, and restored this bike...

Oh, and Im actaully a tamilian... which are at Chennai are you guys put up at?

By the way why did Yezdi company close down or stop producing these gem when it had so many lovers for their bikes? We could have a chance to own thesemachines. Enfield still manufactures the bike which is age old but is still selling in this stiff comprtitive bike (read 4 stroke) market. If anybody have the answer please reply.
