  • My drag RX project

Its been awfully long since i posted up. Whats been keeping me busy was the recent drag RX project I was working on. I lost a few pics while the rebuild documentation but will post what I have here..cheers

I got the bike donated to me by a dear friend. It was unused for 4 years and had been down in the 26th july mumbai flood..the engine was a good 3 feet inside the ground and i had a tough time digging it out. She was an 1986 RX100

then for some beautification and chassis work that followed. Got a good paint guy to work on the tank and other bits

then followed the engine. This took seriously long

Conversion to a 60mm RXK [malay] piston
    Brand new Crank
    RXG clutch
    5 speed transmission
    Yamaha Banshee Reeds
    A fw other trick bits
    DIY porting
    DIY expansion chamber

with due course and time, she started taking shape. Was awfully painful to have low cash days, mindless days, studies and my parents screaming at me all day,

here's some of the goodies that went into the bike

9 months of hard work, failure and success and giving up on the project, she got completed just in time for the drag races, torquenite and speedrun

And finally, here's presenting you "Renegade"

I apologize for the bad quality pics. Will post up better pics very soon.
This project is very close to my heart. It represents one of the toughest times I had in my life that represented those 9 months, not just the bike. And abobe all it gives me a sense of accomplishment that yes I could build what I dreamt of

    Cheers

The mumbai floods had taken a toll on the bike.

                      congratulations mate....

what free flow is that?? Evevn i have a pretty ambitious project. Btw its been done by someone in xbhp but am not able to get the right ID of that guy. Am planning to get a 200's bore-piston and place my 180o ug3's head on it(to put it simply)

The catch is milling the 200's piston head to perfection, so that it fits in the head. So if you could help me out on that front; As in a leth guy who has been there done that types, or wh did your porting.Buddy Even i will be able to participate in speedrun this year, Will be like my dream come true.
btw we have a pretty active mumbai xbhp team here...hope to see u around. we have motorbreath, razorblades, spiderweb from andheri itself.
                      Vikram.....

Thats a RX100 base, he has very clearly mentioned that in the first post.

The base [crank] is that of an RXG..I tried my hand at crank lightening , rotor lightening and got it welded and balanced
I do my own porting and no I don't go lathe guys for that lol
Peak power at 10,000rpm. I guess thats enough for 400 metres and considering the fact that I'm running a stock crank
Am running the stock ignition. Tried the RDD CDI III and V but didn't work for me. So gave it away for a bottle of Motul 8002t. She hits the redline in all 5 gears, which is a lot of fun

Will try to get my hands on a hotrod very soon and then I can go higher on the revs and the displacement. The current setup is a 60.25mm bore compared to the 58mm stock bore. I'm targeting speeds in excess of 140kph [true speeds] I've already done a successful 136kph on my other RXG. This bike is a lot lighter than my stock bike and runs a real short fat pipe :P

yes thats a D slide carb 30mm..Will be getting a TM34 very soon or maybe a TM32 with a PJ kit.

A higher displacement conversion will be kinda pointless unless u have a better camshaft. AFAIK there are no aftermarket cams for the pulsars. try a reworked head with a better carb and a well designed exhaust. Would reap more benefits

Im based in andheri. We guys can meet anytime.Im on vacation too. Lemme know what u guys plan and i'll drop in with the bike. I also have an RD350, another RXG135 5 speed and a TZR250 [almost there] :P [fingers crossed]

Again, thanks for the kind words guys..Will keep you updated

coming up next - an R15 front fairing upgrade for the lil rat

                              Cheers
