      You worked on the shaolin?
So come down to bangy for the torquenite stuff man, we'll have some nice time

hahaha..thanks joel. well you've done a lot more than your share of research for the fiero. I kinda suck at riding though [75kg fatass with no suicidal skills ] so i really cant ride to save my life.
Yes I worked on the shaolin man. Will post up a detailed report about the portmap and the changes I made to it very soon. Good for me I managed to get my hands on a brand new crank and bore coz the guy had stocked up on parts. She insanely fast, but due to a choked fuel tap, the guy had the bike going into starvation and couldn't pull those revs and clocked some 17 seconds

torquenite pune rounds are due to happen in mumbai..will be participating there. bangalore can happen if some funds come along. I wanna visit you, unni and the gang. im saving up for a trackday this summer..lets see if we can plan out something. I wanna see that feiro of yours too

tc mate..hop to see you at speedrun..lemme knw if ur coming, u can crash in and we have some good unknown strips for practise too

      cheers

The RXG clutch has the tallest primary of the RX100, RX135 and the 5 speeds. Hence I can go taller on the gearing with it

                @atul - he he he..lets see.
Hey the pune round is not happening at mumbai is what those torquenite guys told me. So u might need to come down to bangalore itself.
In anycase, for the grang finale, i'll have to come down to bangalore.
Some thoughts about the drag RX if you wanna make it the winner,
*Exit speed has to be 145+, factory shaolin does 147-148 atleast.
                *Aim at 13secs ET
*bike has to weigh around 60-65 kilos
*peak power of 10000rpm is no good. peak has to be around 11.5-12k
*Gearing has to max-out in about 450 mtrs
*Ports have to be a lot more radical
*the bike has to pump atleast 30bhp.
Its a long way to making it a factory beater mate.

Just finished rebuilding my Fiero engine this morning cranked it. Engine was feeling strong and revving till 12500rpm.
It was last clocking late 15s. Looking at improving times further.
Have a lot more to optimise and jetting etc is still not final.
Will be testing it this weekend. Damn there are not too many empty roads on bangalore to test man. I have to freakin go to the outskirts. Thats some 70kms journey.

thanks for the heads up joel..waiting for my hotrods to arrive..then I'm targetting a 165cc with a way higher redline. I need to get my hands on TM34SS if i'll be targetting these kinda revs. And of course the fuel quality will need to be bumped up 10 100+ octane rating

My exit speed at 450 metres read 141kph last evening. Need to plonk on a good fairing [R15 fairing preferably]. She's behaving way better at night owing to cooler climate..Reaching those kinda revs in the 1pm hot sun is gonna be one huge challenge.
I just dont wanna blow this motor up..thats all :P

Outskirts testing eh?..Yea I have similiar issues..There are many empty stretches near kharghar and in thane where my bike is currently at. We just had cop trouble once..Now no issues :P You should come down here

just curious..what carburetion are you running on the fiero?

                    Ok, about the fuel.
Its not quite possible to get 100+, however you can get 100 octane if you have some ccontacts at your neaby airport. Aviaton gas sold through BPCL is 100 octane. This is the only grade that you can get your hands on and its more than what u'll ever need.
One advantage is that you can run pretty advance timing and higher compression as well.

About my Fiero 165. I run no fancy carbs or fuelling man. I'm running a 4yr old BS29 carb which has a 29mm venturi. Its a round slide CV carb as you may know. Works fine for me.
Long ago I experimented a 28VM, but prefer the BS29 anyday.

                        Great work Atul.
Just a word of caution about the gas-
Although you will be using better fuel from your current pump gas (I am assuming 90 to 97 octane unleaded) to 100 octane, the difference in my experience isn’t that much.
The only high octane fuel currently available and sold in India for gasoline fueled aircrafts is 100LL (Low Lead).
You will have to back off the ign timing and/or the compression (depending upon the state of tune of your bike) when compared to the 100/130 AV Gas (which had maximum permissible lead content) that was available earlier.
The main difference in quality of fuel here was not that much the octane number but the higher lead content(in the form of tetraethyl lead which as you may know is an anti knock compound that inhibits detonation) of the earlier gas which contributed to the possibility of running higher compression and more advanced ign timing.
I had earlier run normal pump gas (87 octane, normally leaded) on my bikes with static compression of about 150psi with no issues, but now even with the 100LL gas I had to back off the compression/ign to prevent deto and eventual hole in the piston.
                        Regards

ATF is kerosene. I don't think so!

Aviation gas and ATF are 2 different things. ATF is nothing but white petrol aka kerosene.
Aviation gas is high quality petrol rated at 100 octane.

Tried all kinds of octane boosters, totally useless.
