Karthik many a times i have seen the workmanship on customs chambers are root cause of exhaust port leakage. the exhuast port & chamber header section dont mate well, using of thicker gaskets works. if nothing works use a exhaust port sealent.Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostJagadeesh, since you have changed the gasket 3 times, now it is advicable to change to some stock Exhaust (dont try any expansion chambers), try the chrome type original RX135 silencer or the catalytic type and check for any leakages.
If the problem is with chamber bend-pipe design, there are 50-50 chances of setting it right, but if the problem is with porting, then forget the leakage & keep ripping until you have a spare cylinder kit with you.
Do it step by step & i am sure you will find the culprit.

You are correct. Thats why all these mods needs to be done by some guy who knows what he is doing & must be backed by lots of experience. Its been 3Yrs now after my Green 5-speed rebuild & till date i havn't come across any oil leakage from the engine, trust me not a single drop. And you know very well i am also running on chambers for both my RXs.Originally posted by arvindraju View PostKarthik many a times i have seen the workmanship on customs chambers are root cause of exhaust port leakage. the exhuast port & chamber header section dont mate well, using of thicker gaskets works. if nothing works use a exhaust port sealent.
A thicker gasket might work, or maybe use of 2-gaskets will also help. Regarding the sealent, i am not aware of any sealent specifically manufatured for holding up the exhaust gas temperatures. All these are temporary solutions, permanent one is to change the complete exhaust system.

Loosen all the mounting bolts/nuts, either on the swingarm or the foot rest. Remove the exhaust nuts, put in a new gasket. Tighten the exhaust studs, then tighten the mounting bolts/nuts.Originally posted by jagadeesh.b View PostWill try a stock exhaust and see if it still leaks. i think even before that i will try using 2 gaskets and see if that works.Yamaha RX165 5-Speed
