Hello everyone, i live in chennai, i'm looking forward to buy the piston-cylinder kits for both RX100 ( 36L00 ) and RX135 4-Speed ( 4TL00 ). Are these currently available?. I checked with a spare parts dealer he showed me the kit for RX135 with no part number being mentioned on the cylinder. I haven't yet checked with a yamaha dealer though. Any references to a yamaha dealer who will sell these kits would be very helpful.

      Thanks

please clarify as to why you have mentioned "mechanical" for RXZ and "electronic" for Shogun. I am asking bcauz I have a 2002 Suzuki MAX100R and thought fitting a caliber speedometer assembly to my bike would provide a tachometer. since the stock term MAX100R has only the speedo. I local mechanic told me that we can get the engine RPM reading through the engine current in Suzuki bikes( Samurai, Shogun, Shaolin ). In Yamaha bikes we need to fit a Worm gear to get the RPM reading. Is that so?. If yes, why is the approach different with Suzuki and Yamaha bikes?. Which of these two approaches is better overall?.

It depends on the designer what kind of approch he wants to take. Yamaha bikes are basically 70's designs. So they have that 70's tech. Suzuki bikes are 80s designs so they have that era's tech. Personally i prefer mechanical cause its repairable. In a perfect world where spares are available, electronic trumps mechanical systems.

Btw. Caliber tacho wont work correctly on the max. It will show double the actual reading.

+1 to what Bibhu mentioned, you can install an electronic tacho on a Yamaha bike, you can take the output of the HT lead to create input for the tacho. A 4 stroke tacho will not work on a 2 stroke, it will show double the reading however an RDD digital CDI has a digital tacho out, this output shows the correct reading.

Correct. But the digi lead out only works with a 12v dc rpm meter like that of an fz or rtr.

it it true? I have seen pulsar classic 4 stroke tacho wired to a RDD CDI.

The pulsar setup runs directly off of ht. I dunno how it works with a 2t however.

Just wanted to clarify the difference between the RX100 and RX135 speedometer assemblies ( PRICOL BRAND ) ( OEM ). Two days ago I went to pudhupet in chennai to buy the RX135 speedo assembly. Many sellers don't know the difference they showed me the RX100 speedo as RX135 speedo and even argued that both were the same...RX135 speedo doesn't seem to be available with every seller....but RX100 speedo is readily available. And many RX135s restorations were done with the RX100 speedo.

PRICOL is the OEM Supplier for the Yamaha RX Series

RX100 -> Numbers are marked inside the dials and has no gear-speed markings.

RX135 -> Numbers are marked outside the dials and a 4-Speed gear marking. ( 5-Speed RX has a different one )

VRC Automobiles stock such rare parts (RX135 tiger model lock set, RXG stickers, 5s speedo assy, etc) Couple of years back I got the OE lock set with steel key from them.

Bought this ( just 3 hours ago ) YAMALUBE 2-Stroke Gear Oil from NOOR MOTORS in Adithanar Road, Pudhupet, Chennai. Price Rs. 195/-.

YAMALUBE 2T Oil is also available with this seller. Their asking price is Rs. 350/-.

Most sellers dont have YAMALUBE Oils with them. One dumb ignorant arrogant seller said they are not available nowadays. while another one said its available only in YAMAHA showrooms.
