Agreed to the route to be shortest from Chennai. However, between Bodi-Munnar, there are two routes as per google maps. Which one should we take?Originally posted by aargee View PostChennai-Trichy-Dindigul-Bodi-Theni-Munnar is the shortest & fast route for folks from Chennai.
1. Bodi-Munnar (NH 49 - all the way)
2. Bodi-Munnar (Via Suryanallei)RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Oh ok. I understood your confusion nowOriginally posted by SriramEfunds View PostAgreed to the route to be shortest from Chennai. However, between Bodi-Munnar, there are two routes as per google maps. Which one should we take?

Google maps is unable to route through Pooppara.
Basically its like Theni > Bodi > Pooppara > Devikulam > Munnar. I don't know how good or bad the Suryanelli route is and I would advise you to avoid it and stick to NH49 all the way.
EDIT: If you have time at hand and are feeling adventurous, then you can give the Suryanelli route a shot!

Right now, to be on the safe side would prefer to stick to NH 49. However, will inquire before taking Suryanelli route. And this cuts shorts the distance good by at least 40kms odd from what I read from Google maps.Originally posted by Praful View PostOh ok. I understood your confusion now

Aargee, your link does indicate route via Suryanelli (zoom). Guess, it avoids Pooppara which looks like a big 'U' NH49 before making it to Devikulam. If Suryanelli found to be safe/good, would take that.Originally posted by aargee View PostNo Suryanelli Sriram, take NH49 all the way

Smoothness is not an issue, our purpose is after all photography,Originally posted by Praful View PostIts in a Ok-Ok state, not too smooth. But its beautiful as it passes through the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary.
By the way are there any restrictions on traveling on this route, ie timings etc?

Not that I know off, but since you might be on two wheels maybe beyond a certain time bikes might not be allowed to pass through the sanctuary.Originally posted by gokulvarmank View PostSmoothness is not an issue, our purpose is after all photography,

Hey guys, Those who are riding whole day, especially after 11 (probably everyone :P ), keep yourself hydrated. I went to CBE yesterday, left at noon from here and it was a real 'sweat pores' opener. I was in a dilemma if to take off the jacket and get into the blazing sun or keep the jacket and burn inside.
So, before 11, stock up with water and if possible drink Gatorade or energy drinks.Peace \m/

This January after the munnar trip we started at 4am went out through the Munnar Pollachi route, although we crossed the Anamalai Tiger Reserve between 5-6am (with Hare's hopping along the roadOriginally posted by Praful View PostNot that I know off, but since you might be on two wheels maybe beyond a certain time bikes might not be allowed to pass through the sanctuary.
). When we reached the end of the forest, the guard at the check post warned us not to ever travel between 6pm-6am, and by looks he was pretty serious :P
