  • @Praful - From TVM, we'll come via Kothamangalam itself. The other route is too cumbersome for us. Else we'll have to take the NH7
And I agree with you on the other routes too, AFAIK they are the better ones of the options.

Now, lets pause the route discussion and decide on the dates. Feb or Mar, I, and I'm sure many others, will have to apply for leave in advance!!

Here's a brief summary of the routes for all states. I am not so sure about the routes from KL though.

The distances are from Google maps, they might be off by a few kms here and there so don't take as the be all, end all for the absolute distance.

      KA, Bangalore
      1. Via Perundurai-Dharapuram-Udumalaipettai : 470 Kms
      2. Via Salem-Dindigul-Bodi : 530 Kms
      3. Via Mysore-Ooty-Comibatore-Pollachi : 500 Kms

      TN, Chennai
      1. Via Trichy-Dindigul-Bodi : 590 Kms
      2. Via Krishnagiri-Salem-Perundurai-Udumalaipettai : 630 Kms
      3. Via Trichy-Karur-Dharapuram-Udumalaipettai : 590 Kms

      TN, Coimbatore
      1. Via Pollachi : 160 Kms
      2. Via Dindigul : 320 Kms

      KL, Kochi
      1. Via Kothamangalam : 130 Kms

      KL, TVM
      1. Via Kothamangalam : 300 Kms
      2. Via Theni-Bodi : 360 Kms

As I see it, taking the route with the "best" route conditions is the route to take considering the large groups that we are riding in.

For Bangalore, I am pretty sure its going to be route #2.
For Chennai, I would suggest route #1.
For Coimby, its up to you guys the difference in distance is nearly double between the two routes.
For Kochi, well you guys don't have much of a choice now do you. :
For TVM, I guess route #1 would be the best coz then you can ride down with the Kochi gang.

My apologies if I missed out any other city. These are the major cities that I see participation coming in. So if your city is not listed you can maybe plan to sync up with members the city closest to you.
For chennai guys Route # 1 & 3 are same distance. so if the meeting point is dharapuram, chennai & bangalore guys can meet and we ( coimbatore )also join

      • Date first, route next! I don't want to miss another ride due to date clashes!
Voted for March 12/13 as it seems to be the leading one.

          • tempting move..........

I am in.....March is a busy month.....but I think I can be in as the preferred dates re holidays..........

So I am in for any dates.............

Even Munnar is the place I might have ridden to many times in the last year, I am ready to have a ride to Munnar again...............

As Avin already told that he has some solutions for economy stay, hope we can sort everything in a smooth way...........

As Lijo already commented 2 days will not be enough and it ll left us nothing more than an up and down ride.......... If we want to feel what the place is and to remember the faces, we may need 3 days...........but leaves does matter here............
started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR

??? Any festival during that period??

If by any chance B'lore and Chennai guys decide to sync-up at Dharapuram, Coimb guys(those who are planning for 3 days) can sync up with both of them at Udumalaipettai.

BTW, how much time does it take to reach Udumalaipettai for Chennai and B'lore guys?? Depending on that the Coimb guys can plan their start if they want to Sync-up with them!!!

              ...................
But if they take the route as per above, Coimbatore guys have to ride alone!! And I might end up going all alone if none of the Coimb guys are planning for 2 days trip.

              • Blore will not take the Dharapuram route, post Perundurai its a single lane all the way till Munnar, we will loose quite a bit of time if the group turn out is large.

If we are less than 10 (highly unlikely) then the Dharapuram route can be considered. Else its the Dindigul route as default for us right now.

Important Note:Need people to come forward to take the lead in their respective cites for organising things at city level.

I remember seeing one in Hosur. There're 3 temples on each of the hills, one is Chandrachudeshwarar for Lord Shiva, next one I visited is for lord Vishnu & I could see the Brahma's from the Shiva's temple.
