    Athens

I didn't wanted to visit any cities in this trip. I couldn't avoid Athens for its historical importance. Also i had to change the tyres and service the bike. So I decided to stay in Athens for 3 days. I went through some difficulty, I lost some document and with a help of a good friend of mine in Swiss, I solved this problem and carried on with the trip. Apart from this Incident, which was only my Mistake of not being careful, I enjoyed Athens.

Greece people were Very friendly and I experienced an Overwhelming Hospitality through out my stay.
In Particular they are so proud of their long History. Every person I met, gave me lots of information about the places I have to visit.

    I visited

almost all the important archeological sites

    Acropolis
    First Olympic Stadium
    Roman Ruins......

    Few Pics from Athens

While i was in Athens, I was suggested by many of the people I met, to go to Naupoli. Its a very old town south west of athens. On the way to Naupoli, I also went to epidavros. Its a very old greek theater. and Cornith canal. As it was only a day trip, I came back to athens the same day.

              Thanks mate.

By the way coming to India with a KTM.... It was an option but because of the Bureaucracy, it was not so easy.
One has to get a document for the motorcycle from the swiss customs called as CARNET de Passage. Its like a passport for the vehicle. For a motorcycle Like KTM, One would end up paying minimum 9000 CHF as a caution deposit. Ofcourse if we bring the bike back to swiss , we could get the money back. But 9000 CHF is too much money for a deposit. One option would be to travel with a old motorcycle, so the caution deposit may get minimum to 3500 CHF. To India with a KTM, one has to be rich to deposit........, which I am not.

              ON

After spending a while in Greece, I headed towards north. On other words my return to swiss. I headed towards Bulgaria.

                    Bulgaria

I crossed the bulgarian Border without any problem. But I had to wait for more than one hour.
I had to fuel up after the border, The guy in the petrol station was so kind, he invited me for a coffee and gave me a bag of apple for free.
First impression itself was very good. I didnt stay in Bulgaria for long. I was just passing through the country. The landscape was beautiful. For the first day I camped near a rafting club for free and the second night i stayed in a hostel in Sofia. The city was totally empty. no one in the street.

After 2 days i headed to romania

                        Re: Bulgaria

I crossed the Bulgarian Border with a short ferry drive.
The romanian Border crossing was not a problem. They were very friendly but he looked at my passport for almost half an hour. lots of visas and stamps. it took him a while to understand all my entrances and exits.

I stayed in Pitesti for the night and rode the TRANSFAGARASAN one of the world's best stretch for Motorcycles 90 KMS of twists and turns
                        It was real fun.
Later that evening i ended up camping near BRAN Castel.

                          ONE Word - WOW

A trip of a lifetime. Ride safe, my friend and have a few beers on me.
Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

I have subscribed this thread yet don't like to open it though could not resist. The awesomeness of it kills me, makes me restless and then make me cry on my helplessness.. Man this is one hell of a trip you are doing. Not sure about the scope of the revolution but you defenitly is travelling Che Guevra of Europe and the pics are killing. Myself being at Europe for good amount of time I can feel how it feels to ride there.

You my friend defenitly living your dream and the best part is you are just travelling not arriving, added to is the no planning which makes it even lively and exciting.

                            A BIG cheers

                              BRAN Castel

After riding Transfagarasan I headed towards Brasov. I always was faszinated and terrified by the Touture techniques of the Transylvanian King Vlad Tepes. No one can even imagine of his torture methods. He lived in a Castel near Brasov in a Place called BRAN.

Let me put it in other words

Most of us are familiar with Bram Stoker's book DRACULA or the Movie Dracula played by Gary Oldman.
This is the castel featured in the Picture.

Later that evening i Found a camping place called as Vampire Camping. I met Andy from Touratech Swiss and joined them for the Morning.

                                On the way to Hungary

From Bran, I headed towards Hungary. The weather started to get more cold and Heavy rains for the day. In fact from this day till I reach home, I was only riding in Continuous Rain. The Romanian Hungary is at a place called NADLAC. I wanted to cross it the same day and camp in Hungary. But the weather was so bad and I started to get cold and felt not like riding. It was also very tiring ride from Bran to Nadlac as I had to overtake huge Trucks each and every Kilometer. Needed so much of concentration. By the time I reached Arad, a town 100 Km before Nadlac, I became sick and stayed for the night.

The next day it was too cold and Fog , I crossed the Hungarian Border. I wanted to go to the Balaton Lake. Since the weather was getting more and more worse, I got cold and running nose. Then I ended up in Budapest. Actually i wanted to avoid cities, but this time again , I was left with no options. I needed a warm shelter and i was not motivated to camp in the cold.

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Lots of things to do and see. I did all the tourist sightseeing stuff for 2 days. and had some rest.
