Our last trip had been a bit of a dud at Vani Vilas Sagar Dam considering there was no water and conditions were such that the trip was more of a 400 km hot weather endurance run rather than a relaxed Sunday morning ride. The high point of the ride had been Divya rolling over the magical 50000 kms mark..!
This time we wanted to go to a place which would be truly refreshing and a change from the usual.
So we met on a random Wednesday and after quite a lot of confused deliberation over tea we were no where close to a destination. I was blabbering incoherently about wanting to go to Gopalswamy Betta in the monsoons - which by the way was completely unrelated to what we wanted to discuss - when suddenly Divya said "What about Yercaud?" and bam..!!!! DECIDED - just like that!
Yercaud it is then..!!
Sunday rolled up and we met at our usual meeting spot about 3:20-ish, in front of pizza hut opposite Ramaiah Hospital. We decided that we will make our first stop for tea somewhere around Krishnagiri and go ahead from there. Started riding and soon after entering Tamil Nadu we stopped at a road side bakery for some fresh tea..!!
Some pics and random discussion later we were back on the road. I was thinking of making the next stop directly at Thoppur A2B and so we both were doing decent speeds. Somewhere between Dharmapuri and Thoppur the sun decided to make an appearance and so we again stopped at a roadside tea shack for some PHOTU-GRAPHY..!!
Sun Rise.
Sun Rise.
Our steeds!

Blue Skies...
Mr. Mod
[p.s. we got those stickers done just a day before the ride
]Trying my hand at some panning shots

Alright enough photography - time to get back on the road. Thoppur and the small ghat which comes after it was quickly covered and soon enough we reached Salem.
Over cast skies welcomed us to Salem. This was promising to be an awesome day already..!

Just missed taking a pic of the complete train. So had to make do with just the engine...
Mr. Mod doing his thing

That's my beauty..!
Soon we entered Salem and asked our way to the road which climbs to Yercaud. The climb to the top starts very auspiciously with a hair pin bend. Had to stop and take pics here!
For the record, the climb starts at 350 m above MSL.
Spotted this butterfly foraging nectar..!
And then we started the climb. Somewhere after hair pin bend 11 the drop in temperature was drastic - just like Ooty. Totally understandable why they call this the poor man's ooty..! though where the poor man entered the equation is questionable. :P
Reached the top of the climb - Hair Pin Bend 20/20

Climbing 1000 meters in a short span of times - my ears popped three times :P
Posing..!
I rock Viaterra, LS2 and Spartan
Divya bhai rocks a SOL, Cramster and T-BHP..! (sorry guys somethings wrong with my keyboard - trying to type X but its typing "T" ) :P :P
Tried my best to burn erase some chicken strips - didn't really work out..!
Red Horned Bulbul (I think)
By 8:15 in the morning we were already at Yercaud Lake. Divya said he wanted to do all sorts of touristy type stuff. OK - let dive head long into it then. First stop - DEER PARK...
... which had Peacocks
Wut..??!!
In all its glory...
The Deer of DEER PARK
All right - next thing to do on touristy type stuff - BOATING
Random Cormorant (I think) spotted
Floating Bubbled that a kid in another boat was blowing..!
Hungry after half an hour of pedalling the boat, it was time to fill up on food. Spotted a nice restaurant (eggetarian) right opposite the lake and chilled out over some eggs and milk shake for an hour.
It was time to get back to doing touristy type stuff - next stop LADIES POINT..!!! Yaaaayyyyyy..!!!

But more on that after this gets approved - since I am close to done with the pics quota on this post... :P
Mr. Mod - krupya jaldi se approve kar diyo (Mr. Mod - please approve fast :P )
Cheers..!!

What a waste. I thought well lets wait for Divya - he may have some cool footage - hopefully. NOPE. His camera stopped recording at 15 mins. And he was stuck behind 3 buses for the majority of those 15 mins. I guess that's what happens with desi jugaad GoPros :P
