    Day 6: Hunder-Turtuk-Leh
Is this doable in a day?

Leh-Pangong-Moriri-Pang is impossible unless you have provision of carrying fuel for 750+ km per bike or buy in black wherever available. Moreover, no ILPs for Chusul are being issued. I had the same plan, gave up because of the fuel and Chushul issue. Now planning to make Leh as the base and visit all the places.

Day 5 : You need to carry fuel from Leh itself.

Day 6 : Yes possible, need to leave for Turtuk early and can reach Leh by evening/ night (depends on time spent on road for leisure).

I heard there's a fuel station in Deskit?

How Can Increase the tourque of my Platina

Hi I have planned a ride from delhi to leh on Bajaj platina with a pillion (my wife)

I have two major issues that are haunting me
              1) How can i increase the torque of the bike.....
              2) As you all know platina is very light in weight and a little extra acceleration pops a wheelie how can avoid that specially when I will have pillion and some baggage adding extra weight at the rear....

I'll suggest you to not go on platina and that too with a pillion have at least 180cc bike.

Make sure clutch are new, brake shoes are new and its well maintained. And be ready for alighting the pillion on steep passes. You should try but be ready for some real pain and anxious moments. Also get new tyres.

I think 1000-1200 at a very minimum for food n accommodation, that too if accommodation is very basic.

Good hotels/room-stays normally cost some 1000-1500 per day.

Also consider cost of fuel, permits, accessories like riding gear and spares etc.

                      Ride safe and have fun.

OP: Thank you for starting the informative thread.

I have read the associated posts with interest since I am planning to visit India in 2018. Since I will be traveling from the United States, I hope to include a ride through several mountain passes in the Himalayas and Nepal. However, some have expressed concern that my travel plans may be too early in the spring to ensure the passes are open.

Currently, I plan to enter India on April 1st at Moreh, India or near Tamu, Myanmar and travel for two months until the end of May. The early entry was intended to avoid the high temperatures & humidity & rain in SE Asia, high temperatures of the northern plains and heavy rainfall in the northeast regions.

Would early-May or middle May be too early in the season for the mountain passes? I have noticed some have plans to depart in late May.

Since riding in the Himalayas is a high priority, perhaps I should postpone my arrival until August or September to ensure access to the passes.

Any feedback would be appreciated since I wish to commit to the March 2018 Thailand and Myanmar crossing within a week or two.

After considering optimum weather for touring, my alternative itinerary resembles the following:
Nov-Dec: New Zealand (ship from NA->NZ)
Dec/Jan/Feb: SE Asia (Ship NZ->SE Asia; Store M/C while elsewhere)
Mar/April: China (Southern-rare opportunity ride with Chinese friends; borrow or buy & sell)
May/Jun/July: Australia (borrow or ship from SE Asia to AUS)
Aug/Sept: India (Himilayas) (Rent; Buy & Sell)

Please feel free to comment or provide any feedback if you have experience traveling in these areas.

Thanks in advance and ride safely!

                          Hey all,

I am planning to roadtrip to Leh at the end of this month. I would really appreciate if anyone can update me on the situation in Srinagar.
Is it advisable to go to Leh via Srinagar at this point of time or is it best to avoid it. Since this would be the first time I will be getting Leh'd, I am thinking that Srinagar - Leh route would be more forgiving and would help in acclimatizing to the conditions there.
Any inputs regarding this would be highly appreciated.

                          Thanks.

See, the situation in Kashmir is not like other parts of the country. It is ever changing. It was bad last week and it is absolutely fine at present. So the situation a week before the trip is what you should look at.

I personally would say come without a worry. Info on social media (like bikers attacked/cars attacked) is 99% not true.

                                Thanks mate,

Anyways will be in Delhi on 23rd June, can decide till then to move ahead via Srinagar or take the Manali - Leh route.
I have 15 days time, starting from 23rd. I am also considering going to spiti instead of Leh.
Still confused, can someone help me choose between the two or can I do both(doubt that will make any sense).

                                Cheers and thanks.
