    • Hey I have sent you an PM regarding the accomodation.

I would suggest you to take both the routes in your journey. I had taken route 2 while going to Chikamagalore and route 2 when returning back to Bangalore.

Route 2 is more scenic after Hassan till Chikamagalore.

            • Planning a ride to Angadipuram in Kerala in the beginning of September (keeping my fingers crossed that it will work out).

Have been to Kerala via both, the Thane-> Mangalore->Thrissur route and well as the Thane>>Bangalore>>Coimbatore>>Thrissur route.

This time since I won't be going all the way to Thrissur, thought of taking the Thane->Dharwad->Shimoga->Mysore->Angadipuram route.

The total distance, according to Google is about 1220 odd kilometers.

Any inputs on this particular route would be appreciated.

                • @Knight rider: Its raining cats and dogs out there buddy, so if you enjoy riding in heavy rains then you can make it. What are your preferences of places in kerala??? Also look into the ISGTG wayanad thread which concluded recently , you would have a better idea as to how it is of late.

Thanks Phanikar for your reply....... I will go through the ISGTG thread........ as for the places I have'nt decided them yet but the main thing I want is the boat riding in the canals since the water will be plenty there in the rainy season....
Yes I am not a rain raider.... but isnt-it the rainy season that one should go to kerala... am I wronge??

This route will be very scenic, but it will not be as fast as sticking to NH4. I think you will need at least 3-4 hours more on this route, as it has a lot of twisties and in general slower, owing the two-laned roads along this route.

As far as the road conditions on this route goes, it is great all the way through, barring a few small stretches.

                        Thanks a lot, Rossiter..

Well, I guess I'll finalize the route when I'm actually going, depending on the requirement at that time...if I leave early, I think I'll take the Shimoga route, else, I'll stick to NH4 and cut in from Bangalore.

Just hope the trip pans out, though.

Winter is the most preferred season for kerala,But people who like the riding in the rains(like Ananth from True wanderers who toured kerala in rains) it is double the fun. Everything depends on you.But if you are not comfortable in the rains dont hit the kerala roads dude. And moreover, they are more of backwaters than canals
