            Hi All,

I am planning to do a 800KM Ride in a day from My Hometown to Bangalore crossing 3 states which I did last year when the roads were with More diversions. I request you to suggest me a route with the least risk and effort possible.

My Start and Destination are on the link

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

            Thanks

Just an update to this thread, I had a small ride upto Ambur from Chennai. Road conditions toward vaniyambadi are tolerable and gets really superb after vaniyambadi! The return leg from Ambur to wallaja is good, but becomes intolerable after the wallaja junction. Cut my speed down to 70kms/hr. Would advise people don't this leg at night to be extra cautious as pot holes and irregular patch work are of abundance.

I am planning to go to Hyderabad this weekend from pune.

                Route: Pune-Solapur-Hyderabad and return.

If anyone has gone on this route please let me know as this will be my first inter state ride that too solo. From what I had gathered, pune to solapur is a breeze, but then its single lane and the roads are not so good.

                          Route : Bangalore-Haveri-Bankapur-Mundgod-haliyal-Dandeli-Ganeshgudi-Mollem-Ponda-Majorda-Palolem-Colamb Beach-Patnem Beach-Rajbag-Talpona-Galgibag-Mashem-Sadashivgad-karwar-Kumta-Sirsi-Banavasi-Soraba-Sagar-Shimoga-Tiptur-Tumkur- Bangalore

                          Bangalore-Haveri-Bankapur : Boringly good Roads

Bankapur-Mundgod-Kalghatgi: Average to Bad roads. Since there was some function at Mundgod Monastery, the travel time became exponentially higher because of the sheer number of Vehicles travelling.

Kalghatgi-Haliyala-Dandeli: Kalghatgi to Haliyal average roads. Haliyala to Dandeli , roads are good.

                          Dandeli-Ganeshgudi-Gharli/Londa: Very good Narrow roads.

                          Gharli/Londa- Anmod-KA Border: Bad roads

                          Ka Border-Mollem-Ponda-Majorda: Good Roads.

                          Majorda-Fort Aguda-Palolem : Good Roads.

Palolem-Columb Beach-Patnem Beach-Rajbag-Talpona-Galgibaga-NH17: Good Goad Country Roads, Narrow and Clean. Road Access to Rajbag closes Abruptly, Could be because of it being a Private Beach, not sure. But can walk around. Talpona and Galgibaga Beaches are maintained by Forest Department as they are one of the Prime Turtle nesting areas. few of the cleanest beaches I have visited. Not many places to stay around, but it does have limited stay options. Gmaps shows a ferry service from Galgibaga to Mashem, but it depends on the water level in the estuary. It doesn't operate during low tide. Even when its operating, it ferries only people, not even motorcycles.

                          Mashem-Karwar-Kumta: Good Roads Throughout.

Kumta-Sirsi: beautiful Roads. Part of it is cement and partly asphalt. Less Traffic

Sirsi-Banavasi-Soraba: Empty narrow roads. Road work going on to widen the road(about 4 mtrs on either Sides). few Sections are very bumpy. So high Speeds are not recommended. Trees form Canopies which makes it even more comfortable to Ride.

Soraba-Shikaripura: Some Procession/Function was taking place, cops asked me to take the Soraba-Sagar-Shimoga route as it might take time to clear up and also some road work was happening near shikaripura. Not sure how true it was

Soraba-Sagar-Shimoga : Good empty country roads throughout.

Shimoga-Tiptur-Tumkur-Bangalore: Good roads throughout. The Nelamangala Toll was about a km and a half long
                          Stories of the open road...........

It feels awesome to leave the long trail of cars waiting at the toll booths. Remember one odd Getz racing away and getting stuck at the toll.. .
