had a trip to Vijaywada yesterday nite...........

the road condition out there is very very pathetic. And the damm traffic...
took me 7 hrs to cover 250 km..

The whole 180 km of the route is being developed into 4 lane (god knows when would it be completed) and there are a whole lot of diversion and at every diversion there is traffic jams. not to say the speeding busses, it seems to them that they own the route and that we are just out of place.

Waiting for the road to complete so that the riding quality improves...

can u map out the road which one exactly?nh5 or vijaywada-hydrabad ?

can anyone update me about the latest road condition.

Hyderabad - Bengaluru (NH 7)

Distance: 570 km

I did this ride 15 days back. The roads from Hyderabad till Kurnool are excellent. One can easily maintain good speeds on this 200 km stretch. From Kurnool till Anantapur, the roads are really bad. There are diversions and railway crossings every now and then. At a certain stretch, the road is in such a bad shape that one cannot ride above 10 km/h. This 150 km takes a lot of time. From Anantapur till Bengaluru, the roads are better. But still there are diversions. This 200 km stretch also requires more time to cover than the normal time. There are speed breakers on the highway, once we enter Karnataka. These speed breakers also waste a lot of time. This continues till one reaches Bengaluru.


Bengaluru - Mysore (SH 17)

Distance: 150 km

I took the Tumkur road (NH 4) from Bengaluru. There was a flyover construction going on the way, which wastes a lot of time due to traffic jam. It took about an hour to reach the NH 4. This highway is excellent and good speeds can be maintained on it. One needs to take a left turn from this NH 4 towards SH 17 after about 17 km. This highway leads to Mysore. It was quite busy when I traveled. One has to pass through several cities on the way and hence it takes more time to cover this stretch. There are speed breakers again on this road which wastes a lot of time. There was some road construction going on the way which had caused a traffic jam. The traffic increases in the evening. One can encounter several traffic jams while riding in the evening.

Road Condition from Bangalore to Hyderabad as on 13/11/2009.Total ~550kms
1.Bangalore to Anantapur (~200kms) the road is average can be managed with average speeds.
2.Anantapur to Kurnool(~150kms+)-the road is in bad shape due to floods, road widening work is in progress and unexpected divertions on roads due to widening and need to be extremely careful if ride in during nights.
3.Kurnool-Hyderabad(~200 kms)-this road is in a very good shape and yon can cruise as much as you can.

Hyd - blore.

All the way 4 lane. One of the best highways in South India. You can easily cruise along on three digit speeds. Hyd - Kurnool -- perfect shape., Kurnool - Ananthapur - perfect shape all along. Only one or two diversions fr road work that does not even stretch to 2 kms. Anathapur - Blore- again perfect 4 lane apart frm couple of diversions.

Overall a high speed cruisers paradise. Do watch out for villagers, cattles etc and local vehicles coming in the opposite direction on your fast lane. As i said its a speed friendly stretch all the way...stick to the left lane as cars will be doing really high speeds on Hyd-Blore route. There are bikers who did Hyd- Bangalore in Under 5 hours
