no such speedo error, actually it corrects the speedo error by a fair margin than before.
But, both tyre are vey costly.
He asked of 110/80, not 100/80 I too have been using 110/70 for some 90k km [emoji14]

Yes, I have seen it, but 110/80 will increase the height about 8 mm, definitely going to have speedo error & stability issues as fz stops with only front brakes, rear brake is sponge.

I am using since 42k, only got 1 puncture at rear and bike feels stable except mudslash, even wet grip is also good.

Is it normal for these kind of cracks to develop after this much run?

How safe is it to ride with this kind of tyre in the city?

        Thank you.
I would again like to draw attention of fellow riders to the last query I posted a while ago. There are cracks on the rear tyre's side walls of my FZ S V2. The decrease in air pressure I mentioned was due to a puncture and not due to side cracks. I am riding my bike since then (over 4 months now) on the same tyre, in and around the city without any problem.
The cracks get wider when I sit on the bike. My question again is that is there a chance of tyre burst or any serious issue of I go for a ride of about 600 km (up and down) in which half the terrain being hilly.
I am planning a ride to Khajjiar/Chamba from Amritsar this weekend and I am really confused about the tyre issue
        Please suggest. TIA.

I agree, Michelin Pilot Sporty has good grip and cornering grip when it is dry, a hint of water or clay deposit on the tarmac, it slides like a drunkard! But strangely if the road is completely wet like in rain, it is manageable, it is the water spill on dry days take you by surprise.

yeah man, this is one mistake which i did buying without going thru reviews, this tyre is a nightmare in light rain because the water accumulates with the dust and makes the tyre more prone to loose grip. but if the rain is heavy, the problem is not so high. and, stock MRF just s*cks in dry as well as wet grip. Best would be slightly oversized Michelin pilot street 110/70 but it is costly like hell, reason being H rated tyre.

Can I replace the FZ-S chain with Gixxer's chain with FZ-S' sprocket set? One positive I feel about the Gixxer's chain is that it has the masterlink, where as Yamaha do not put a masterlink!

I'm also thinking of changing my rear to 140/70 and 110/70 Michelins. Are you facing any issues like FE drops or stability issues? I'm concerned mainly because of the front being changed from 100/80 to 110/70

Mileage drops from 38 to 36 now for increased wheel dia & bike feels slightly free in top gear.

Thanks. Will be buying them tomorrow. Does it fit without any issues in the rims?

The same reason I'm changing my tire way before its due for a change. I'm assuming you have those MRFs that comes as standard. They are horrible in both dry and wet conditions. I don't feel confident to even touch 90kmph on those tires. I think you should change the tire. The tire cracks will grow wider and wider day by day. And eventually there is a chance of tire burst. By the way the cracks don't widen that quickly though. How many kms did you do on those tires?

I used these tyres for my FZ-16
                        1. MRF REVZ 140/60
It was a great choice. Got it as stock. But have lesser life span because it is soft compound. Wet/Dry grip is great! Breaking also. But only lasted 12K Odo.
                        2. MRF REVZ Y 140/60
I was searching for the stock! But ended up in these. Overall performance was the same but it only lasted 8K odo. I think it as a metzeler. Costed about 3.4K. Same as the stock, short lifed.
                        3. Michellin Pilot Sporty 140/70
It was the worst tyre i have seen. Perfect for Dry roads. Only needs few drops of water to fishtale. Even though it wasn't radial. Got it for 3.2k but lasted 18K odo. Better use in summer.
                        4. Pirelli Sport Demon 140/70
It was a good choice. It wasn't radial but a Bang for the Buck! Lasted about 14k but felt like a track tyre. Both dry and wet grips are good. Braking is also good.
                        5. CEAT ZOOM XL 140/60
I never trusted CEAT. An average tyre not more than that. Costed about 3.2k but not worth of that. Persons who ride under 60KMPH can use it. Not good with speeding or cornering. Lasted about 20K odo.
                        6. Metro Bazooka 150/60
Got it from a friend who sold his Duke200. The tyre was above average. But looked cool with that fat a**. Breaki g and road grips are good. Cornering also great! Lasted 15K odo.
                        7. MRF REVZ C1
Got it from the same friend when he changed his stock tyre quick after his purchase. Great one same as the stock MRF REVZ but with a Fat A** Look. Lasted 12K.

I think the Stocks are the best otherwise go for MRF REVZ C1 but the availability is less and may cause a quicker Sprocket change. But otherwise it is superb.

thx, after reading your post i went and checked out Dunlop Tuff Grip 140/70 17 (aryashala opp to the petrol pump dont know the name). It looked nice ,they quoted a price of 3200. I did went to new barath also but they didnt had dunlop. Only option their was pirelli and mrf (above 4000 and 2700 respectively).

Before switching to new one now after a fair amount of usage what is your final word.

My prioritis are: good wet grip ,i drive for my work every early moring near seaside for 25km. Once i even had a minor accident cause one sleepy guy stepped on the road on wet condition. I @ around 70kmph slammed my rear breaks, rear tyre started fishtailing and got out of control. My handle's side hit the guy, me and the byke fell on the road (to my & byke's right side) with right side of my head slamming on the road and thanks to my helmet i escaped with some scraches on my arm.....This was one of the several times my byke's rear has fishtailed and skidded thats why i decided to say adios to MRF.

Plus comfortable ride and good handling as you said would go great.

So what would your opnion which is the best option Dunlop, Pirelli or mrf (price is no concern)
Hi there, you know that recently purchased the bike from my friend's friend Thought of buying a puncture kit but was confused about filling this air when fixing the leak. So did not buy it.

                            Greetings fellow users,

I have replaced both the front and rear tyres of my Yamaha FZS 16 V1 with CEAT Zoom Rad X1 150/60 at the rear and CEAT Zoom plus F 100/80 at the front.

Request your views on the Following are the observations made by me:
                            1. Front sprocket noise
                            2. Steering Feels Stiff and tight

is it due to upsizing the rear tyre.?

Thank you for the time and consideration.

                              Yes,
                              1. 150/60 tyre is heavy compared to 140/60, if you did not readjusy the chain after changing the trye then please add bit more slack loosen the chain a bit should solve this
                              2. New tyres always feel stiff and not so grippy for first 1000-2000kms, also do check the tyre rotation direction the small arrow on tyre is proper, assuming the tyre guy did not fit the in reverse direction.

i think it was due to improper alignment of back wheel to the swing arm.. please be careful while adjusting the chain slackness. exact proportions of left side and right side indications must follow on swing arm as shown in pictureClick image for larger version
