Has anyone tried timsun tyres? They are available in 140/60 17. How would they compare to the stock mrfs? I tried 140/70s ( Contigo) does not work well.

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
I had been using mechilin pilot sporty 100/80 R17 & believe me it seems to look quite broader than previous but the dry and wet grip is superior than MRFs and only thing I hate about this tyre is grip on mud or clay. No grip on muddy roads at all. P.S. dont buy from online.Regards

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
Stick to the stock one. Search MRF Revz M (Gixxer stock), it is quite good compared to MRF Revz Y (FZ Fi). But Revz Y last a long due to harder compound than Revz M or Revz.Originally posted by Old Biker View PostHas anyone tried timsun tyres? They are available in 140/60 17. Both revz are available. 3100/3200 respectively or I could wait for the ceat radials to come in stock @2900. My experience e with mrf is that I had to check tyre pressure almost daily. I hope ceat is better in that. Just to know, has anyone tried Timsun or know someone who has tried?Originally posted by saikatbyte View PostStick to the stock one. Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
Hi,
The rear stock tyre of my FZ S V2 has developed cracks on sidewalls after doing only 11670 km in 2 years + 1 month. The air pressure decreases gradually over 2-3 days because of these cracks, which widen up a bit more when I sit on the bike.
Is it normal for these kind of cracks to develop after this much run?
How safe is it to ride with this kind of tyre in the city?
Thank you.

Possible to have such cracks due to the age of the tyre as well.Originally posted by Nucleus View PostHi,

Should be alright to use in the city, but would recommend to check it with a tyre shop who would be able to recommend the condition and whether you need to put new rubber on your machine.---

Just to be on the safe side, run a tube inside it till you get a new tyre. When you change tyres, go for the original size 140/60/17.Originally posted by Nucleus View PostHi,

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
I've changed my tyre to MRF Zapper S 140/70 - R17.
Being using this tyre for almost 12k KMs now. I find that this tyre is extremely heavy and has caused my mileage, acceleration and top speed to reduce.
Also I can feel that the read swingarm is facing the brunt of the weight of the tyre especially when hitting road imperfections at speed.
Anyone else using this tyre? What are your reviews on this?Your pair of feet can tire you... Your pair of wheels can never tire you...

I wouldn't use the 300v I have tried it and I know they say it's the best out thereOriginally posted by danny king View PostHi
Could someone tell me if there are tyres available for FZ16, other than MRF.
My FZ is about to clock 14000 kms, there are visible cracks in the grooves of both tyres. Apart from this the tyres seem to be fine.
And is it ok to use Motul 300V 15w 50 full synthes for FZ
But stick to a semi synthetic
The motu on my R15 was terrible the bike changed over night I run it for 200 kms and threw it out
I'm now using Putoline15w 50 fantastic oil
Great for the clutch smooth and really improved acceleration try it if you can get in India
As for tires I'm not sure if IRC is available in India but if they are they the
IRC IZR SS99 FANTASTIC ☺☺☺

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
You can.Originally posted by Soulbiker View PostGuys, i need suggestion... what if i put 110/80 as front fz tyre?
PS: I know it will reduce my higher speed..
It probably won't make much difference to the actual speed but it sure will affect the handling. On the plus side, helps in stability and better braking (due to the increase in contact patch I think). I was using a Metzeler M5 front (110/80) from the RC 390 on my FZ and totally loved it.

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
I am using Michelin pilot street on both wheels now, e.g. 140/70 on rear & 110/70 on front.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostMetz is 110/70-17, not 110/80. 110/70 works fine, been using for so many kms. 110/80 proves disastrous.
100*80%=80mm height
110*70%=77mm height
no such speedo error, actually it corrects the speedo error by a fair margin than before.
But, both tyre are vey costly.Regards
