    Current Price in Bangalore

Any thoughts on the current price in Bangalore for the replacement tyres for FZ16?
I checked with one vendor and he mentions 4.5k for Pirelli SD and 3.5k for the stock MRF..
There is NoThing that is EveryThing!!

Recently, at I saw an FZ with MRF 120/80 tyres at Hilton Yamaha service centre in Thiruvananthapuram. It did not look bad at all. And it was a perfect fit.

          120/80 ?
even with 120/70 theres hardly any space between the tyre and the tyrehugger. how the heck did someone fit a 120/80

            Even I wondered: 'am I seeing 120/80?'. I took a closer look.
Yes, it was 120/80 17 inch tyres.
MRF, something, I can't recall what the model was.
Not only that the tyre hugger was in place too.

              Tyre Choice...

I think the stock tyres are the best, but sometime back i came across a person who had a Metzeler Sportec M3 in the rear of his FZ. Looks amazing, it was 150/60, slightly broader but it fitted well and he says it improved FE and handling. I didn't ride the bike although, so can't comment...

              here's a link: METZELER - Sportec M3

PERSEVERE... failure is not an option!

Even I think stocks are better since there are too few options.
                I checked the Metzeler website.
My bike has done 18,000+ kms. Considering my riding habits, I think the tyres will last another 8,000 kms.
But the front tyre is constantly losing air. Have to top it up every week. Have taken it to many tyre repair shops and the Yamaha service centre. But the problem simply refuses to go away.

Do check your alloys, they might be bend which is causing this.

Sorry buddy, I didn't ask him about the cost. It was a brief encounter, he was about to start off and go, when i interrupted him. Will try checking it out from other sources and let you know.

                        MRF website shows Zapper Q 140/70 17.
Don't know about quality and handling.
                        I think its not tubeless.

Now a days, I see a lot of guys using different tyres for FZs.
                          Most common is Pirelli SD.
Recently, I saw an FZ with ContiGo! parked in Techno Park. It was certainly large with very little space between the tyre and the tyre hugger.

                            Air loss problem resolved

                            Hi,

The persistant air loss from my FZ's front tyre is finally resolved.
A tyre mechanic suggested cleaning the inside of the rim and tyre.
I immediately had him clean the tim and tyre and problem solved.
There was mud stuck in between the rim and the tyre, hence, the air leak.
After cleaning, he applied soapy water and also immersed the wheel in water to show there was not leak.
                            Time taken: 5 min
                            Charge: Rs 50
                            Me: Extremely happy!

                              frequent punctures

"My FZ is about to clock 14000 kms, there are visible cracks in the grooves of both tyres"
My problem is a little similar; cracks in the rear tyre and too many punctures of late. Close to 15k on the odo. Recently purchased the bike from my friend's friend (it was 14.4k on the odo when I bought it and 8 punctures till now!!!) Thought of buying a puncture kit but was confused about filling air when fixing the leak. So did not buy it.

The puncture walla says use a tube else you'll be shelling out Rs.100/- for each puncture and added that many FZ owners are using a tube now in their rear tyre. I am very confused - right now there 2 places where I got a leak. Add this to the above 8 and its ten!! I was thinking the tyre is good for another 10k km. In corners the grip is nice - but have felt a little skid in gravel and on not very good roads when breaking at normal speeds. (it wasn't happening when I bought it)

I am waiting for your helpful suggestions

                              1. Is using a tube a good option at all?
                              2. Can i go for a tube as a stop gap option and fit a new tubeless back again after say about 10k Km?

This may be old topic, but i happened to stumble on this. I am planning to buy Fz16, but i am worried that i would be stuck with that 140/60 tyre without any options to improve mileage. The original 140/60 R17 is a radial tyre but seems to suffer more punctures due to low profile. Frankly that 140/60 tyre is overkill for a 150cc.

                                Here is what i understand
140/60 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 84 mm, frequent punctures on bad roads
140/70 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 98 mm, bad option i think
130/70 = Tyre width is 130 mm, height is 91 mm, better maybe
120/75 = Tyre width is 120 mm, height is 90 mm, Fz rim too wide for this?
110/80 = Tyre width is 110 mm, height is 88 mm, dazzler tyre, Fz rim too wide??
