Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
I have replaced my rear with ContiGo for 2800/-, fitting charges 50/-. The tyre feels awesome and there is no significant difference in ride height as well. As you mentioned, stock front was quoted 2000/- INR.Originally posted by jasrox View Post

I bought a Dunlop Tuff Grip 140/70 17 for my FZ today. I had my doubts about the grip and overall performance of the tyre. However, after the first ride, I came to the conclusion that the tyre is in fact very good. Good dry grip, better than Revz. No fishtailing and skidding upon hitting sudden brake. Not bad at corners either. Another point is that the ride is not that bumpy on rough roads and it goes over potholes without much of a bounce. Revz would go in hard in potholes. I cannot comment on wet grip now as it has not rained in Trivandrum. Revz have always felt under inflated even at 33 psi air pressure.
I bought the tyre from Tyre Plaza, Kazhakootam, TVM. Price Rs 3100. Almost the same in a few other stores that I checked.
I wanted Pirelli SD, but the price has gone up beyond Rs 4000. The guy at Safi Tyre Palace, Kollam said that Pirelli SD does not have the ISI mark, and hence, it won't be available any longer. Don't know if that is true or not. There is a rule that all tyres sold in India must have the ISI.
Tuff Grip is made in India and has the ISI mark.
The store guy said its soft compound. But I really don't think so, should be medium.
I would give Tuff Grip a score of 4 out of 5. It is clean and is a good fit for FZ.
Check out the pics.
From the markings on the tyre ,it is not a RADIAL tyre.

That is quite obvious..Originally posted by Sachin Raj View Posti owned yahama fazer , after completing my 18k km changed my MRF REvz to Duke tyres 150/70 . i feel better in leaning and fast cornering , but the initial power of my bike decreases i think due to the tyre change .BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

What problem?Originally posted by Sachin Raj View Postwhat do you think . is the problem cause due to tyre large size ?My DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial
Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Re: Tyres other than MRF for FZ16
When it comes to tyres for FZ/Fazer - "Stick to Stock"
1 - No option available in 140/60 profile.
2 - Other options of different size leading to - Decrease in acceleration (Heavy) / Gearing ratio changes / stress on engine.
IMO - except for frequent puntures & less gripp in gravels (every tyre woul skidd on gravel) - Its perfect on straights(speed/acceleration), corners, off road, anywhere.
Changed my tyre at 30ks due to excess puntures, but the tread was still good. (New - Rs 2900)
Brought a stock MRF again - cant compromise on the Cornering/High speeds this tyre offers.
The local tyre wallah will push you for 140/70 Dunlop....please dont...it dragggggsss......(friend of mine wants to sell it off reverted to stock again - still any one wants to buy at a good price, pm me
)
PS : No issues with front tyre.
