    • Just a simple question .. It may sound noobish but i just want to know .

If we are riding above 100 km/hour and sudenly got a puncture will the bike loose control instantaneosly leading to crash?

Or will i get the time to stop the bike before it looses the control?

The reason why i am asking is Last week i went to change my Tyre to
M 45 Michelin , the tyre guy removed the tube and i was shocked to see that already two punctures (i was unaware of this as i am the second owner) . I had done 100+ for hours on many trip and i was imagining what happened if i got one more puncture when i was doing 100+

      please share your knowledge ..

      • Tyres for Honda Activa

        Hi,
I have a 4 year old Activa with balding MRF Nylogrip tyres.
I want to change them to any one of the following:
        - TVS Olivia
        - TVS Raksha
        - TVS Conta
        - Dunlop Glider
        - CEAT Secura Neo

I thought of going in for TVS Olivia because its a slightly upsized tyre (100/90-10) but the dealer told me that it was a failiure model.
So which one should I go for?

        Please help me.
        Thank you

As far as i know tubeless tire are better then tube tire

1> Puncture depends on the nail if the nail is small it will make a small hole if the nail is big it will make big hole and tire will loose all the pressure fast,But i know one incident when Toyota Landcruiser tubless tire got punctured and burst at the speed of 130km/hr en-rout to bikaner the car got off the road and turned.

2>Tire build pressure when moving on road because air expands when it's hot and contracts when the air is cold.

So to avoid casualty on unknown highway where there is no help when moving solo.Go and fill N2(Nitrogen) it will cost 50Rs for each tire has life of 3-4 months and run colder and heavier then O2 gas and has many advantages.

H Jithu, there is nothing "Noobish" in this question, probably this was my question around 3 years ago. Yeah, I am not kidding.

If it is a tubed type tyre, you might end up having bruises as the bike do looses control when there is a big puncture, However in the case of a tubeless puncture, Nothing much happens as the tyre looses its Pressure slowly, and then the tyre deflates completely after a long time.

You can ride upto a max of 50-70kms on average on the punctured tyre (Now,that depend on the punture as well)
With a atleast 5 punctures I rode 30 odd kms uptil my home from the Delhi Official Dhabha.

Also there are ways to even improve the stability in a tubeless tyre, but that comes at a later stage.

Anything Else you may want to know, feel free to ask..

                  • As i told i changed the rear tyre to Michelin M 45 on my Zma
I have an interesting experience to share ..

Before changing the rear tyre i took the bike to highway and checked the top speed .. The highest one i got was 135 . (usually my bike wont cross 130 ) after two days i changed my rear tyre (while front is still the stock one which did 24 k but still in ok condition)

After i changed the tyre and took the bike on highways but this time i couldnt strect much as there were a lot of trucks but the bike touched 130 in a straight road. (i think it can do more if i pushed more hard )

so M 45 on rear wont decrease top end

Reagrding the accelaration i didnt find any noticable diference

so M 45 will not make a noticable change in accelaration (atleast for me i didnt feel any change in accelaration now if the situation changes i wil update)

Regarding the effect on Mileage, i am still testing the mileage and will update about it after i complete testing .. i dont think it will make any difference from the figures i get till now ..

But the handling increased to new levels. The m 45 is giving awsome grip and gives more confidense . it inspires confidense on corneres (but i didnt try to corner hard as my front is stil stock old tyre). I can really feel the difference. I tried braking hard the rear brakes but till today no fish taling . So i will recommend M 45 if you are looking for a tyre that wont decrease your aceelaration/ top end and you need not remove chain guard and gives awsoem grip . It is slighlty wider than stock tyre.

But the interestign thing i noticed is this

My Rpm meter readings for corresponding speed readigns
                    changed .

                    Now the bike touches
                    65 km/hour at 4 k rpm
                    80 at 4.8 k rpm (earlier it was 80 at 5 k )
                    100 at 6 k rpm (earlier it was 100 at 6.5 k )
                    110 at 6.5 k rpm (earlier it was at 110 at 7 k rpm)
                    120 at 7.5 k rpm

i have no idea what happened .. I didnt made any modification/any tuning . i did nothing in between changing the tyre to M 45 from stock

i am wonderign what happened . My old tyre i replaced was almost lost all the grip and was in a unusable state (means u can ride but if u brake hard or ride on wet roads zero grip) changing the tyre to m 45 will give more grip to rear tyre so that the poweer from engne can be used more efficiently but how come such a thing make such a visible difference?

                      dewd!

u installed tyre of that huge profile and asking abt changes in rpm :X cant u figure out urself that ur tyre diameter is increased means circumference is more too.

so?? are you telling if i install a wider tyre the bike will do more speed at a particular RMP? i dont think so .. actually i expected a reduce in speed figures as i am installing a wider( even though slightly wider) tyre..
How can you explain the increase in speed in each rpm?

                        • dude it's not the width but profile that mutters in conjugation of profile however...
ur tyre is not low profile .. it's just normal profile FAT tyre. if i'm guessing right then the tyre must have added atleast 1" to ur previous dia [100/90].

now for calculating speed , send me gear ratios of ur ZMA incl primery reduction and i m posting u back with sppeds in all gear at whatever RPM .

                              Hi,

I have a 2005 model Bajaj Avenger. Its about time to change my front and rear tyres. I would like to know if it is possible to fit tubeless tyres? This would entail changing the rim to alloy from standard spoke wheels? Guys, i need your help in finding a reliable vendor for purchasing tubeless tyres and alloy wheels in Cochin? If it is not available, i can look at sourcing the same from Coimbatore?

                              Request your help.

                              Thanks in advance.
