Does this value change if I use nitro. I am using same values for nitro. for a month or so and didn't find any improvement as such.
Just wondering whether I missed the correct values.

    Thanks,
Welcome to Xbhp my friend !!

the air pressure you are using is correct but when it comes to nitogen in tyres you have to check the chart with the person filling.
Although i also ride r15 and according to the chart the values for nitrogen are :-

    Air Pressure

    Front wheel - 19
    Rear Wheel - 22
    (Yamaha R15)
    700 kms

        • I have been using Nitrogen on my P220 and have felt effects like lowered rolling resistance and lesser feedback of road surface from the tyres leading to a plusher ride.

            • Hi Guys,,

I think there is some mis-information going onn... Some few posts back wrote: that the bike actually felt lighter after nitrogen?? but actually,, that;s not its characterstics ... Please go to the start of the thread and read the discussions and you'll know the exact benefits.

1- Nitrogen is Heavier than Oxygen, as its comes later in the periodic chart, Being heavy, it makes the vehical feel more PLANTED on road. Means you get more grip and stabality, specially while you take corners.

2- The molecule size is bigger and the cohisive force b/w the moleculses is high thus making leakage almost negligible. Making re-inflating less frequent.

3- Since leakage is less, your vehical runs smooth on correct pressure, and i hope all know that running on low pressure makes the milage drop.

4- Tyre life and rim life is extended, as nitrogen is non -reactive with iron or alloys.

5- The Tyre Temp remains cooler, its not fluctuating like oxygen, SPL in places like delhi (summers). Since the tyre don't get hot, performence is more assured and better.

6-Inertia of tyre increases a bit thus making the ride feel more stable.

7- 78% of our atmosphere air is already NITROGEN so the normal air you fill already contains more of nitrogen then Oxygen, so no Drastic change is noticed until you are in extreme (maybe moderatly extreme ) Situations.

-- Please Use normal tyre pressure, i have tried tested Nitrogen , when the funda was new, on my P200 and on Wet roads, Its definatly better and more gripping. Although the Change is just 5% ( some don't even notice) But any improvement is welcome. also there's not much gain of weight, an ya few people have notified loss of top end a bit, but i didn't notice.

-- If any Chart is there, Please do post it here and the source and its authenticity. Just request, it can help us if we have missed any info.

              --cheers

              • Ugh, loads and loads of nonsense going around here. Nitrogen heavier than oxygen? Nitrogen has a mass number of 14 and oxygen of 16, both are a diatomic gas. So oxygen is heavier for the same volume of gas. (Gas law says there's the same number of molecules a given pressure and temperature independent of which gas you're talking about.)

Even then it doesn't make a difference, because it's a gas. You cannot notice the difference in weight, since it's negligible.

Nitrogen does not affect tire temperature, it conducts about the same amount of heat away from your tire as air. Perhaps even less, since it may be drier and moisture improves heat conduction.

As for the other claims, I don't have the data to verify, but they are doubtful at least. Most of the effects described are probably a psychological effect.

I cross checked with the Bunk for Nitrogen pressure. I didn't find any chart nor they were aware of such a thing. As of now my bike has same units of Nitrogen as normal air and I don't see any issue.

I need some documentation or informed source regarding the actual units of Air or Nitrogen to be used. I would rather go for air if I don't find any doc as I am confused whether I am using correct PSI or not.

                  • Ive been using the same pressure as Air..iv never heard of Nitrogen having a diff PSI

A simple search brought me this

                    "
How much nitrogen should I put in my tires?
Simply inflate your tires with nitrogen to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended psi for air. There is no conversion factor necessary for filling tires with nitrogen vs air. GNI recommends inflation pressures as stated in the vehicle owner's manual or posted inside the driver's door of the vehicle, and maintaining this pressure in order to optimize your fuel economy, tire life, and vehicle handling."

                    • There is another unit except PSI (cant recall its name) and some of the filling machines have that, the chat being commonly referred here is the conversion between psi and that unit. we have to tell the person the PSI we want who then checks it with his chart and adjusts accordingly..

                      • For Delhi Members

The general rate for nitrogen infiltration here in delhi is Rs 50 or Rs 60 for both the tyres and thereafter 15 for topup per tyre... I found a cheap alternative so thought of sharing it... the moolchand petrol pump (commonly known as SHELL petrol pump) fills nitrogen @ Rs 50 for both the tyres and thereafter giving 3 FREE TOPUPS for a period of 3 months and we have an option to get the whole nitrogen replaced with new at the time of topup this will help in case somebody wishes to refill after a flat tyre and plus there is a privilege of getting it replaced 3 times for 3 months.....

                        • i would say why dont u try filling once
50rs is not a big amount that too for 3 months
just use it for 3 months and then decide

                          • hi all!!

read this thread and decided to try it myself.. Got N2G filled in my Fz 16 at the Bharat Petroleum Station near Andheri flyover on the SV Road (next to andheri fire brigade){Mumbai}.

They dont fill it as per what i read in the previous posts.. They just remove the air completely and then attach a pipe which was connected to some vaccum valve to create vaccum in the tyre. After that, the guy puts in the nitrogen pipe and whooaa!! you're done..

The machine also has a display where the purity of notrogen is displayed. Keeps varying between 99.1 to 99.5

They take Rs.50 for both the tyres (wish i could use the new rupee symbol here ) and issue a card to you. The validity is 3 months and you get to refill nitrogen for free in this period if it goes low.

Regarding the feel after filling it, i felt some difference probably because the pressure is as per the bike specs.(as most tyre wallas mostly inflate it more i guess).

I felt better handling and grip (i dont know if its happens or i just feel it since i spent 50 rupees just for inflating tyres ). Though i felt the tyres remain cooler than before.

Will post a better report after using it for some long trip.

P.S attached a pic of the 3 month membership card that they give. it has the advantages printed on the other side. Dont know if its all true.

some fillings stations have a different unit of filling nitrogen.. if thats the case then they have a conversion table to convert the required psi to their unit..

if they're using the same unit, then the recommended pressure for air suits for nitrogen as well..

in your case, you're feeling bumpy ride probably because your tyres were less inflated earlier..

after filling NO2, the ride infact seems softer..
