what is the purpose of upgrading it to 12 pole??Originally posted by ajcletus500 View PostWhat will happen if i upgrade my 7 pole stator of hero impulse to a 12 pole stator of the honda dazzler?? Will it cause extra strain on the bikes engine??Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

more poles means more number of turns which is proportional to the volts generated and hence more watts producedOriginally posted by sandeepcf View PostHero Honda Ambition has 12 poles and produces 120 watts.
Honda Unicorn had 8 poles and produces 125 watts. According to their respective user manuals.

if the voltage would be more than 14.6 or may be 14.4(depending upon rr unit) than it would be shunted by the regulator/rectifier unit so if the poles are 12 then 18 gauge wire would be best (if core area size of 12 pole stator is more than 8 pole stator coil) so that amps is increased keeping in the mind voltage should not decrease than 14.6 volts @ 2000rpm as it will increase the amps which will result in more powerful charging.Originally posted by ajcletus500 View Postmore poles means more number of turns which is proportional to the volts generated and hence more watts produced
More voltage would be of no use it will be wasted by the shunting action of rr.
19 gauge wire will be good for 8 or 6 poles stator coil. if winded with 18 gauge wire than voltage would be less due to less no. of turns per pole
Note: here i am just giving example, exact wire gauge would only be told depending upon stator core area size where wire would be winded. like TVS Apache RTR and Bajaj pulsar (150/180 ug4) has 8 pole stator but apache' s coil core area size is more than that of pulsar.Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

So how many gauge wire should i wind on a impulse stator to run a 35W hid, some extra led lights and the remaining basic electricals. Will a 12v 4ah battery be able to do the job or should i go for a 7ah battery

Yes you should go for 7 amps battery as 4 amps battery may create problem at start up of hid as hid takes too much amps at start up but if you will be purchasing the new battery than first use the 4 amp battery life than buy new one.Give your details help a biker stranded in your city.

I differ a little with the above statement.Originally posted by rprathin View Post

Original no. of turns on a 8 pole Xtreme/Unicorn stator is nearly 66/pole. And I have rewinded 45 turns/pole using 18 gauge wire and my Idle(exactly 1000RPM) voltage is 12.2V. And I get 14 Volts at 1500RPM only.
Max AC voltage from stator is 77 Volts.
