but when i tried to fit 55watts bulb using relay it works for maximum upto 12sec after that it swithed off! i think this is because of bcu???
my friend told to change the switch gear to old one!!! but i want it on my stock baclit switch!!!! please help me reg this issue!!!!
with what gauge wire do you had winded??
and using relay would not help just try using 55/60 watts bulb without relay..

Though i had done the rewinding before i saw this post. But just to clear my doubt.

I had disconnected the green wire which was soldered to the body of the stator. Will it cause any harm in the long run?

first find out which wire is this, for what it is then i will tell you what to do with the wire...

        • I'm planning to get my bullet machismo 350 converted to DC and fit HID(s).
          • Where is Ruby electricals in Bangalore? Does anyone have contact # ?
          • Where do I buy an APE RR from?
          • I have a 12V 5ah battery. Do I need a bigger battery? How big / which brand? I might install 2 HIDs down the line.

I'll get the stator coil wound and feed the o/p to APE RR and then to battery.
Is there anyone who can fit an HID?

How do I verify that the charging is correct ?

no idea about it because i do not live in bang other members can help

u can get ape rr from piaggio service center

no need of bigger battery until your battery charging system is fine and engine is also running while hids are on..you can install Philips hid but its very costly.

you yourself can fit the hid its very simple or ask ruby electrical for this

you can find the charging system is working correctly using multimeter..
and please post the pic of re winded stator coil
            rewind with 19swg copper wire..

I mean what do I measure (current / voltage)?
              Where do I measure?
And how much should it be (range?) ?

Also, AFAIK HIDs consume more current initially (for 20 seconds or so) which my puny 5ah battery won't be able to provide. Hence looking for a battery change.

You can upgrade to a 9ah battery. But have to make some adjustments to install it. a new 9ah battery will cost around 1.5k.

                • I've heard that Machismo has CDI ignition and use 3 phase power.

Can I do rewinding the regular way (single wire, alternating) and plonk an APE RR?

Also, I'll be fitting 2 HIDs down the line. should I go for 17 awg wire?
And where do i measure the current (absolutely no idea) ensuring that I don't get left in dark night?

lower the no. of turns per pole less the voltage so first find out the stock turns by counting when removing the old winding and if you are able to fit that much count in the coil with the 17 swg wire than only wind with this wire or go for more gauge wire...
winding with 17 gauge may result in lower output when engine is idling so try to fit stock turns with the maximum lesser gauge wire possible....

                      this depends on load

yes for two hids you should go for 9amps battery

U can't use APE RR on a bull, APE RR is for single phase alternators. Go for TBTS RR. I guess the stock lighting is AC,if then RR swap is a must.

2 HIDs will be an over kill setup IMHO Then u need to upgrade the battery like others said. Does ur bike got an amps meter by stock?

can it be done like this if we will remove all the old winding than again do the winding with the 19g wire on all poles than it will become single face and then we can use ape rr..
if its 3phase than pulsar 220 rr can also be used

Buddy, there's no way a single phase can outperform a 3 phase alternator as its more robust, reliable & stable than the single phases Just google it for the differences. I may be wrong but its not a wise idea to convert a proven 3 phase to a puny single phase as the stator assy and magnet specs wont match for an optimum output. Bulls have torqy mills but they maintain low rpm compared to new gen machines, so 3 phase will be the ideal option.

Ofcourse, P220, ZMA, R15 like RR can be used for upgrade, but I would suggest TBTS for a bull as its more like a OEM fitment.

                              • How to use Multimeter to check RR unit and battery?

Recently i am facing issues with my bike. I converted my bike to DC setup a month ago. Everything was working all right - HID / angel eye / horns / indicators till day before yesterday when i noticed the horns went out suddenly.

After that yesterday i noticed the HID and other lights went out.

So i am assuming either the wiring / RR unit (APE OEM) / battery has gone bad.

If i want to check the RR charging and battery voltage what setting should i use on the multimeter - Amps or Volts i will be using a multimeter as attached below.

Edit: Also advise if while checking these i should disconnect anything like wires etc. or i can just simply plug in the leads and do the job.
