Guys I have done about 9k km on my 1year old ZMA. I have used Mineral oil so far (used HH oil for the 2k then Motul for 5k and now Shell for last 1.5 k) . I am pleased with the performance except the slightly harsh gear shift and a bit harsh engine. I am thinking to switch to SS or FS oil . Cost is not an issue , I want to know following aspects regarding oil
1) Which type( Mineral/SS/FS) provides slick gear shift
2) Which type( Mineral/SS/FS) provides smoother engine for longer period
3)What are other pros/cons of SS/FS oil compared to Mineral oil ?

w.r.t HH bikes(entire range) it's well proven that the HH idemitsu engine oil(mineral) 10W30 is the bestOriginally posted by 1235sam View PostGuys I have done about 9k km on my 1year old ZMA. Be with mineral, the reason behind your issue is as mentioned belowOriginally posted by 1235sam View PostGuys I have done about 9k km on my 1year old ZMA. 1. bit harsh engine. this is due to engine oil shell is not good for high 150cc or above bikes and its not a JASO MA 2 standard oil try some JASO MA2 standard oil which you can find it on the oil can
2. slightly harsh gear shift this is not only due to oil but also due to chain is dusty or needs cleaning and greasing the gear shifter
1) Which type( Mineral/SS/FS) provides slick gear shift
valvoline, motul, gulf, ELF moto4gold but make sure its JASO MA2 standard oil
2) Which type( Mineral/SS/FS) provides smoother engine for longer period
Be it any oil any type the good time period to change oil is 2500 or 3000 kms not more than that.
3)What are other pros/cons of SS/FS oil compared to Mineral oil ?
price wise SS is costlier than mineral and FS is costlier than SS
performance wise their wont be much big difference while riding in Indian terrains but is their while cruising and driving on track at high speeds

Currently Using Gusto |Enfield Bullet 500 | Ecosport Titanium+ Diesel

valvoline, motul, gulf, ELF moto4gold but make sure its JASO MA2 standard oil
-What's the difference between JASO MA & JASO MA2?
Be it any oil any type the good time period to change oil is 2500 or 3000 kms not more than that.
-I can feel the need for oil change at ~1500km with mineral and at ~2100km with power1. What's your say?

i always get the oil change at exactly 2500 km done. I put vovoline only. I tried the bajaj new oil but soon found gear miss problem after 1000 km done. So changed it back to the previous one volvoline zinda baad. Just scared that bajaj stops bringing this oil then which one i will be putting.Originally posted by Honda_CBF View Postvalvoline, motul, gulf, ELF moto4gold but make sure its JASO MA2 standard oil

My experience suggests CP1R, Motul 300v and Petornas Sprinta 5000 4T perofrms better than HH Idemitsu for my Zma-R.Originally posted by vipin_s View Postw.r.t HH bikes(entire range) it's well proven that the HH idemitsu engine oil(mineral) 10W30 is the best
Currently using Petornas Sprinta 5000 4T as it is cost effective as well as easy to source.

so I am thinking of online purchase. Any websites that sell engine oil in India? I lost my bookmarks, there is a website which sells motorcycle parts and I can't find it now.
Shell advance ultra is available but I am really dissatisfied by shell mineral that I drained it in just a week, so I am not going to buy shell again.
@sandeepcf,
where do you stay in andhra pradesh, if you are in hyderabad check with few shops in ram koti. if not, there is a castrol dealer 'Nuzen Lubircants' in Mehdipatnam,Hyderabad..he does have castrol power 1 racing 4T engine oil cans..I generally source from there..KoushiK PMK

1/2 , In minerals ,try gulf pride 4t 10w30 . If it is stays above 30C most of the time where you live , then gulf pride 4t 20w40 . Both are very very slick and cool . Both are JASO MA2 .Originally posted by 1235sam View PostGuys I have done about 9k km on my 1year old ZMA. HH 10w30 oil is not available in the Idemitsu make anymore (atleast in kolkata) , only the MAK(BPCL) made one is there .
I've never used synthetic oils primarily because of cost & uncertain availability so can't comment on it .Last edited by Pinaki; 02-23-2011, 12:53 AM.
