Re: Engine Oils
I also feel the same but riding a silent vehicle is dangerous as the others road users/pedestrians fail to notice us .Originally posted by Pinaki View PostI am particularly sensitive to it , if possible I'd have a totally silent motor .
As it is , there is too much chaos on the city roads .
You can use your 10w30 oil in winter.Am looking for it here . However I wish , i can't try out delvac or rimula just yet . You see I have filled the gulf synth 10w30 just one n a half months back .
Finding a Delvac 1300 is very easy thanks to the majority of diesel cars. It is available in 1,3,4,5,10,15.... litre cans.
I have never seen Mobil Delvac 1400 in a 1 litre can. I know it is available in 4,15 litre cans.
No considerable change in the FE.but don't overrun the oil , drop it by 2500 . Any change in fuel mileage with it compared to the 10w30 or 20w40 ?Last edited by shoeb2015; 05-10-2013, 06:53 PM.

@ VJ/Blackthorn - Mobil Delvac 20W50 is mentioned on the list of available MSDS from Mobil India here -
Select Country India and search Delvac.
But I am not sure where would you find it.Last edited by muztariq; 05-09-2013, 09:48 PM.

Re: Engine Oils
And that's the dilemma. But the search never ends, have told three people here in my town to stack if they can source me. All gave a big grin and said, if we can, then definitely sir. But this week if things go right, I might go for a 100K jayride and keep them posted too.Originally posted by muztariq View Post
But will keep the progress posted here.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Engine Oils
Anyone wants to experiment with chain lube ?
Use a mixture of diesel engine oil and SAE90 gear oil and grease mixed in it .
I have been using this since last one year and extremely satisfied with the results.
Chain shines like new and does not dry-up.
When the chain looks dirty,I liberally lubricate it and then take the bike for a high speed ride. Along with the excess oil, dirt is also thrown off from the chain. Lazy me !
Cons : I don't have any idea about its effect on chain life. So far I haven't faced any issue.
(Standard policy- Use it at your own risk
)
Thanks for correcting me.Originally posted by muztariq View PostDid you miss 5? I Have one.Last edited by shoeb2015; 05-10-2013, 06:55 PM.

Grease in the sense, molten grease or normal lithium grease? And how will you concoct them or more aptly how do you concoct them, just so we get an idea. Considering all these are multigrade mixed with even denser oils must result in good lubrication film.
But if you can expand a little upon the mixture that'd be real helpful.
Cheers!

Answere in color.Originally posted by bAR o' 9 View PostHey guys, when do u ideally change your engine oil ? - Following what is written in the vehicle's manual. 2 to 3 K kms usually.
Also whenever you change the oil, do you drip the previous oil ? Is there any other way?
And could you guys suggest me a good oil for P150 ? Subjective; Motul 5100 15W50 would be good.

Re: Engine Oils
Synth/Semi-synthetic oil is MARKETING, if your vehicle did not come factory filled with FS/SS oil.Originally posted by bAR o' 9 View PostThanks bro!
Also, what is a Synth / Semi-Synth Oil ? Which one do you use for your bike?
Which one do you use for your bike? - Dont follow me. I am on Diesel engine oils. But if you want to save some money from SS/FS oils, diesels are good substitute.

Motul 5100 costing around 500 INR would be best for you.
In other cost efficient options you can try Shell AX5 20w50 oil. For other options try the pulsar 220 thread, they use some other oils. Grade is same 20w50 for your's and 220.
