Is Engine oil flush safe to be used??
My bike has done 23k kms. I want the carbon deposits to be removed from the engine.
One of my friend suggested to use a Diesel engine oil & run engine for 10 minutes & drain it.
    Confused,What to do?

Why not? Can be used, but in MODERATION. Now decarboniztaion doesn't need to be done even after 10k KMS unless there is very significant reduction in performance. As such the deposits themselves aren't too significant, but most people do it, can't blame them, they love their stuffs after all.

This topic too has been debated (quite a heated one).

I don't see anything wrong in using the flush. Regarding diesel engine oils, is oil after all, it's not gonna polish the engine as a flush would. The main purpose of the flush is to dislodge the oil that it can dislodge. Even then there is definitely oil lodged up at tight spaces which is impossible to get rid of and isn't a good idea do that too. Errr. that's long story.

Simple terms. You can definitely use ENGINE FLUSH for that little extra cleaning.

      Cheers!

Just a little query > Such an additive (flush) dislodges the dirt and muck from inside the engine but how does it 'flush' the dirt out? As far as I can comprehend, the dirt might get dislodged and mix with the oil? And when the oil is drained, it gets drained with it? Am I right?

As an alternative, post riding of 23kms+ if one might need to open up to service/replace the clutch/any other part, one can do the needful with petrol also. But again, that would be quite tiresome to say the least. But I think this crude method works way better than using a 'flush' per se?

Carbon deposits and engine flush? I used to assume, engine flush is used to remove sludge deposits.

The best engine flush is the engine oil itself .. that is what it does the best! Flush the engine.

Sludge or gunk is what's the basic term it is, but "carbon" is deposited in the combustion chamber not necessarily in the engine. Gunks as you know are chunks of effluents forming a mass and flush do dissolve these gunks or to put it in context, remove them just like your VIM dishwash drop does.

In whichever page you've quoted your query, the answer is the same, or perhaps can be improved upon by fellow folks. But for most part, it's the same. And this topic has been brought up by you pages back IIRC and I guess Muzz replied to your query. Basically the same procedure.

The Gear shifts are smooth and easy, and finding Neutral is easy now....What exactly did you mean by 'Bike throttling at 80 Kmph" ? the gear shifts will make clicking noise and shift easily and positively with R3X....
Mr Babu76,......the Diesel oils contain dispersants and detergents to keep the diesel engine clean inspite of heavy combustion residues . This also means it does clean the inside of engine (detergents), and in case of Petrol engine, previous deposits inside will be now cleaned up....I can find out only when I drain my bike oil to know....
Bike throttling meaning when accelerate the bike above 80 Kmph I feel engine is not sufficient to push more than 80, it like someone fix that speed limit. I should also change the the oil after 1500 Kms ?

A bike's pick up after 80KMPH or the "PULL" you've mentioned just not depends on the oil. You need to factor in tire pressure, carb setting, fuel in tank etc etc.

As you know psr ji always uses discretion in whatever he does, and that doesn't mean you need to drain 1500. If you've read his post, you can see he's quoted still is oil level is same and the color is good, which certainly is an indicator that the oil is good and can be dragged to some more KMS very well.

ZMA not able to do more than 80 Kmph ? there must be something seriously wrong with your Carb or engine setup.....
Regarding oil change I change any oil in my motorcycle at 1,500~2,000 Kms ....and sooner if engine feels rough on heating up...

Folks, a little help needed here.
I have a 8 year old Pulsar 150 dtsi. I've researched about my oil grade on this thread which says 20W40. Also some Pulsar owners do not recommend using FS oil.
What i want to know is, do you ALWAYS drain the oil whenever you change your oil after 2k-2.5k KMS ? OR you can also just top-up sometimes?
Some people also say about oil being very black means it's burnt. What does that exactly mean ?
Also, do i need to change the oil filter everytime ? How much does it cost approx for the p150 ?

                                Many Thanks

PS : Oh and uh, i must have done approx 2.5k KM. How do i check my current oil level ?
