The Yamalube you use is SS, and it shouldn't have caused any slippage. You can go ahead and use *Motorcycle Specific* oils in any grade M, SS or S. Yamalube is indeed an excellent oil.

      pulsar 180. ug4. 6200 kms.

until now i have used d bike on an average speed of 45-65 kmph. have crossed 100kmph 2-3 times that too with uniform acceleration. currently it is giving me constant average of 48-58kmpl.

i m planning to take the bike to a long ride of 400 kms (to and fro)..it would be a complete highway ride, so speed would be a constant 90+.

will riding on high speed for such a distance affect the average of my bike..??

have heard many say that fully synthetic cause gear slip like problems..
        Is it true..?
then what should we use..SS or FS oil..?
My ride is fz16.. And till now, upto 18k, have used only the stock yamalube..
I have personally faced slipage issues with FS Yamalube. But, the SS Yamalube is good for some km's and after that the gear changes are absolute pain and engine heat can be easily felt.

Yamalube 20W-40 oil is SS and 15W-50 is FS.

Use the company specified viscometric and you will love riding. No matter M, SS, FS.

        Cheerz!!

Not really. Keep varying the speed to avoid stressing the engine.

The best will be to post this in the Pulsar forum and get feedbacks from other Pulsar fellas, who might have done the same.

Ya, you are right in this matter.. Gear shifting gets hard after very short time after the oil change..

          i was planning on using Motul 7100 4T 20w50..
is this a good choice..? Or are there better options ??

It would definitely not affect the bike. Just make sure you vary the engine speed either little higher than 90 or lower than 90 that way you get better efficiency and the stress on the engine is reduced significantly, than holding onto one position and riding for a long time. Mileage figures could drop if you exceed 90+ but again nothing in a significant way to worry about.

You have lots of oils Motul, Mobil, Valvoline, Yamalube, Castrol etc etc etc. But finding the best one is the deal, and almost all oils do their basic job of lubricating the engine, that's a given. Motul 7100 is a very good oil and being a Motul user I can guarantee that it's pretty robust.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I have never seen an 20w40 semi-synthetic or synthetic oil ever . Are you sure that Yamalube 20w40 is Semi-synthetic ? The last bottle I used had "Mineral" written in bold on the front label , it was the SL grade one .

Yup. The Yamaha SVC guys are thought that way to differentiate between SS and FS oil. They say "20W-40 FZ k liye banaya hai aur wo FS nahi hai. FZ k liye FS chalega hi nahi". There is huge price difference between 20W-40 and 15W-50 oil.

What is the oil for R15? I think it is 15W-50 and that is FS oil.

Are you sure? Had heard a guy asking for FS oil for his R15 at the SVC. I guess it should be FS (not sure).

There is a shop in borivali who sells Motul oils. But, not sure whether they stock on big cans or not.

Pinaki ji, Motul ranges have 10w40 300V FS and 10w40 SS 5100 and the same spec in 7100 apart from the usual 15w50 from all these variants.

R15's can be used in FS oil, indeed quite some friends of mine have always loved SS and FS oils. And apart from tat there is no difference whatsover riding both the R15s. The engine seems to be a tad relaxed and high revs when riding, and that equates to improved feel. But any MOTORCYCLE specific oils can be used in modern bikes these days.
