Will it cause any damage to the engine internals ?Originally posted by devils_friend View PostGreen Technology is normally associated for oils, who claim some advantage over "average". These oils are of lower viscometrics.

Re: Engine Oils
Motul is really suitable for unicorn, u can try mineral motul 30004t+ 20w40 or u can try the SS motul 5100Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostAm posting in the engine oils page now
, . . Okay guys I am using Shell Helix semi-synthetic, (kinda blue color bottle one) from last time for my Honda Unicorn, it's great and I am very happy with it. . . Now it's engine oil change time, so many of my friends including mechanics have so much good opinions on Castrol Magnetic for my Unicorn as it's a very good engine oil and also reduces engine noise. . . Which do you think is better and makes my engine still more smoother. . . Shall I put Shell helix itself or go for Castrol Magnetic. . ? Thanks in advance guys. . .
Cheers!!!

Re: Engine Oils
Its really of no use, its 250 bucks+ ur regular engine oil price. If u want the engine to be super smooth go for motul 5100 or if u have the $ then go for motul 300vOriginally posted by shaneadams View PostWill it cause any damage to the engine internals ?

Re: Engine Oils
There wont be any instant damage. The oil by the bike manufacturer is recommended, taking in mind all the parts where oil will be used during operation. Over a period of time you will notice some marks or so on the engine parts, when you open the complete engine (this happens after covering many kms). Using a low viscometric oil can be felt easily, like more engine noise, engine revving easily without any stress or so, just to name a few. The oil consumption might increase.Originally posted by shaneadams View PostWill it cause any damage to the engine internals ?

Since, you own a Unicorn, the recommended grade itself is 10W30. So, the engine will not pose any problem in the long term.

Re: Engine Oils
You are using a car oil in bikes.. helix is for cars, advance is for bikes. Now, dont put that oil again. But if you insist.. better put this oil than crapstrol.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostOkay guys I am using Shell Helix semi-synthetic, (kinda blue color bottle one) from last time for my Honda Unicorn, it's great and I am very happy with it.
I would suggest Shell Advance 10w40 AX7 for any honda bike in the SS category. Similarly you can use Motul 10w40 grade oils.

Muzz is absolutely right. All said and done, try going for an oil that is m specific at least for now. Any mechanic that says Castrol Maganatec is best described as 100% bonehead. If you really intend to, try using the Power1 Racing for 770 FS you won't be disappointed.Originally posted by muztariq View PostYou are using a car oil in bikes.. helix is for cars, advance is for bikes. The only thing one guy used to say was, he tried Castrol Magnetic on a Pulsar and that after using that, he was really happy as it made almost nil engine sound and the engine became too smooth. . . BTW Power1 Racing for 770 FS what's the price of it and also is it a fully synthetic oil and @pixantz share some experience about the Veedol oil as not many here use Veedol for bikes, the only thing they say is Castrol, Castrol, Castrol or some people recommend Shell, that's it. . .Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostMuzz is absolutely right. Re: Engine Oils
It is a Fully Synthetic oil and costs some 700 odd bucks, perhaps a little more or less, quite a while back.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostThe only thing one guy used to say was, he tried Castrol Magnetic on a Pulsar and that after using that, he was really happy as it made almost nil engine sound and the engine became too smooth. . . Re: Engine Oils
Veedol is almost not advertised for in most parts of India.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View Postshare some experience about the Veedol oil as not many here use Veedol for bikes, the only thing they say is Castrol, Castrol, Castrol or some people recommend Shell, that's it. . .

Tide Water Oil has been one of the leading players in the Indian lubricant industry since 1928. It manufactures and markets Veedol brand of lubricants.
With a pan-India distribution network, Tide Water Oil has the spread and penetration to provide its products to every nook and corner of the country.
Its repertoire of automotive products includes engine oils for trucks, tractors, commercial vehicles, passenger cars and two/three wheelers. It also produces gear oils, transmission oils, coolants and greases for automobiles. For industrial application, it manufactures industrial oils, greases and speciality products like metal working fluids, quenching oils and heat transfer oils. Tide Water has tie-ups for the manufacture of genuine oils with a number of renowned OEMs in the automotive and industrial equipment segment.
I would strongly suggest the Super Swift 10W40 version. Veedol is available in limited places, at least here in Mumbai but more abundantly in the south I guess. I came across it in this very 'Engine Oil' forum with extremely positive comments/experiences and so gave it a try. I'm extremely happy with the performance. The best part is, its not costly as the others.
