Re: Engine Oils
I personally dislike the Yamalube oils. They are pathetic. Motul is good and much better than Yamalube.Originally posted by hgps View PostHow long does yamalube Semi synthetic oil 15W50 lasts?
I have done 2400kms using yamalube 15w50 SS
Which SS oil is best suited for FZ-S? motul or yamalube? Or any other brand?

Re: Engine Oils
Valvoline is good stuff. Personally I'd rate Shell AX7 and Valvoline more or less on par.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostHow's valvoline?
That's strange. Of all the oils I've used, I feel Yamalube and Motul to be on par, if not the same, at least in the SS blend.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostI personally dislike the Yamalube oils. They are pathetic. Motul is good and much better than Yamalube.
You can stick to Yamalube, Motul 3100 or the Castrol Power1 (plastic can).Originally posted by hgps View PostHow long does yamalube Semi synthetic oil 15W50 lasts?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Engine Oils
If its Motul Vs Yamalube, Motul surely wins. I have faced many issues with Yamalube. Both the oils, for FZ and R15 (personal view).Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post

Re: Engine Oils
Yes I understand. The reason is, Yamalube is the default standard most SVCs go, and that's one, and if you still ask my Victor which oil it liked, it'd just blindly say Yamalube. But that apart, what were teh problems you faced with Yamalube? Just curious.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIf its Motul Vs Yamalube, Motul surely wins. Re: Engine Oils
The heat produced could be felt easily. Gear shifts use to become real hard and cranky as time passed. If we dont change the oil at SVC, they question as if we have done some crime for not using itOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostYes I understand. Re: Engine Oils
thanks guys. I think i should go for shell advance AX7 or motul 5100 SS. Is there anyway to find adulterated oil when buying from mobil shops? I always had engine oil replaced from SVC since my first service. There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Re: Engine Oils
If you're buying shell oil then buy it from a shell bunk itself to be safe, and if you're buying Motul then check their website for a list of authorized sellers in your city.Originally posted by hgps View Postthanks guys. Re: Engine Oils
20w50 is an overkill for unicorn, do not use any oil over 20w40 on your bike. Suitable oil grades for unicorn are 10W30, 10W40 and 20W40.Originally posted by raja_roadster View PostMy mechanic is suggesting me to go for total quartz 20w50 (btw i ride a unicorn)is it good was using gulf oil from the day one it has run 10k kms ; someone do throw some light , as i dont have much idea about total

Re: Engine Oils
Total as a brand is really good. The only issue you would face is, getting original product. You ran 10k on one single oil?Originally posted by raja_roadster View PostMy mechanic is suggesting me to go for total quartz 20w50 (btw i ride a unicorn)is it good was using gulf oil from the day one it has run 10k kms ; someone do throw some light , as i dont have much idea about total

Re: Engine Oils
It is real hard, but make sure you get from reputed filling stations to avoid the drama. Avoid loner stations with oils full of dust settled on them, that gives you an idea of the inventory and how they refresh them. Just check the can underneath if it's made by VIPUL then you can be rest assured it's genuine.Originally posted by hgps View Postthanks guys. You mechanic must be bonkers. QUARTZ is a call engine oil, and it should no way be used in a motorcycle engine oil. And using a car engine oil on a motorcycle will cause adverse affects. Best is stick to the manufacturer recommended if you don't get the oil you see. If you have a bullet then stick with higher grade Motul or Castrol and Shell MA approved oils, never QUARTZ.Originally posted by raja_roadster View PostMy mechanic is suggesting me to go for total quartz 20w50 (btw i ride a unicorn)is it good was using gulf oil from the day one it has run 10k kms ; someone do throw some light , as i dont have much idea about total

Re: Engine Oils
It is very hard to find that out. . . But one small piece of advice is that if you are buying shell, best buy it from their fuel station where they sell it there or go for a reputed and well known dealer in your city for both Shell and Motul. . . Motul I haven't used but Shell Advance is one good oil that I use for my bike and really love it. . .Originally posted by hgps View Postthanks guys. Don't use it, best is use Shell Advance AX7 for your bike, that'd be perfect and that's what I am using on my Unicorn from quite some time and really happy with it. . . @sinnerz2000 is 20w50 not recommended for unicornOriginally posted by raja_roadster View PostMy mechanic is suggesting me to go for total quartz 20w50 (btw i ride a unicorn)is it good was using gulf oil from the day one it has run 10k kms ; someone do throw some light , as i dont have much idea about total
. . . I was thinking of trying out the fully synthetic of shell, which is I think 15w50, so what do you suggest. . ?
